Job Description

Vice President I, CAT Pricing Lead

Everest Re Group, Ltd.

Role Description The CAT Pricing Lead will be a actuarial leader responsible for shaping and executing catastrophe pricing strategy across the Global Commercial Property portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of actuarial pricing, catastrophe modeling, and portfolio management—partnering closely with underwriting, exposure management, and reinsurance teams. You will drive the integration of catastrophe risk insights into pricing decisions, ensuring alignment with business strategy, risk appetite, and profitability objectives. Key Responsibilities - CAT Pricing Strategy & Ownership - Lead the development and execution of catastrophe (CAT) pricing strategy across key perils (e.g., hurricane, earthquake, wildfire, flood) globally. - Design and implement the “next generation” pricing framework incorporating model outputs, climate insights, and portfolio considerations. - Ensure pricing reflects risk-adjusted returns, market conditions, and underwriting objectives. - Analytics & Modeling Integration - Translate catastrophe model outputs (e.g., RMS, AIR) into actionable pricing metrics and underwriting guidance. - Oversee CAT load development, technical pricing assumptions, and pricing segmentation. - Drive enhancements in data, modeling techniques, and pricing tools. - Portfolio & Risk Management - Partner with underwriting and exposure management to monitor CAT accumulation and portfolio risk. - Lead analysis of rate adequacy, profitability, and CAT return metrics. - Support portfolio optimization decisions (limits, attachment points, deductibles, sublimits). - Business Partnership - Provide pricing insights and recommendations to underwriting leadership to support deal-level decisions. - Act as a trusted advisor on CAT risk, pricing, and portfolio trade-offs. - Collaborate across functions including underwriting, reinsurance pricing, reserving, and CAT modeling. - Reinsurance & Planning - Support annual reinsurance placement and planning by providing CAT pricing and portfolio analytics. - Contribute to capital allocation and risk appetite discussions. - Team Leadership - Manage and develop a team of actuaries and analysts focused on CAT pricing. - Foster a high-performance culture with strong technical expertise and business alignment. - Mentor talent across actuarial and catastrophe functions. - Innovation & Tools - Improve speed-to-market and pricing efficiency through partnerships with technology and insurtech providers. - Lead modernization of pricing platforms and CAT pricing capabilities. Qualifications - 10+ years of actuarial experience in property pricing. - Deep expertise in catastrophe modeling platforms (e.g., RMS, AIR) and CAT risk concepts. - Proven experience integrating CAT modeling into pricing and portfolio decisions. - Strong leadership experience managing actuarial or analytics teams. - Advanced proficiency in analytics tools (SQL, Python/R preferred). - Experience working cross-functionally with underwriting, exposure management, and reinsurance teams. Requirements - Strategic thinking with ability to translate analytics into business action. - Strong communication skills—able to convey complex CAT/pricing concepts to non-technical stakeholders. - Expertise in portfolio management, risk-return optimization, and pricing governance. - Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities. Benefits - Base salary range: $201,000.00 - $275,000 annually. - Access to a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage. - Employee wellness program. - Life and disability insurance. - 401k match and retirement savings plan. - Paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

• Define and maintain the single source of truth for every business metric at Muck Rack: from ARR and net retention to pipeline conversion and feature adoption • Own the analytics engineering function: a small, high-leverage team that maintains our dbt project and builds the semantic layer that powers both human and AI-driven analytics and decides how data is modeled, curated and exposed • Set the AI analytics roadmap: architect the path from today’s dashboard-driven reporting toward a natural language, self-service model where stakeholders can query metrics directly • Manage and build a team of embedded business analysts each reporting to you while sitting functionally within their business team • Deeply understand the workflows of each function your team serves. Map out what a CSM does in a given day, week, and quarter. Understand what the best-performing reps do differently. Identify where data and tooling can systematize what great looks like and build it • Treat each department as a “customer” of the analytics team: understand their use cases, anticipate their needs, and proactively build the data products and dashboards that help them perform, rather than waiting for requests • Set quality standards and methodology across all analysts to ensure consistency in metric definitions, analytical rigor, and output quality — regardless of which function they’re embedded in • Build and run the BA community of practice: weekly syncs, peer review, shared learnings, and professional development • Build and operate the prioritization framework that balances the long tail of ad hoc requests against investment in infrastructure, automation, and proactive insight-building • Be the gatekeeper: protect the team’s capacity for high-leverage work (semantic layer, AI tooling, automated reporting) while ensuring urgent business questions still get fast answers • Make the trade-offs visible stakeholders should understand what the team is working on, why, and what’s in the queue • Evaluate and evolve our BI tooling strategy, with a focus on enabling faster, more flexible report creation without tools and dashboards proliferating unchecked • Build the semantic layer as the foundation for consistent metric definitions across every consumption layer including dashboards, ad hoc analysis, and AI agents • Deliver a natural language querying capability that lets executives and operators get quick answers to metric questions without submitting a request.
