Role Description The Senior Network Systems Engineer is responsible for providing quality services and solutions to our clients while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction. You will routinely perform project-based installations and service-based repair calls at client locations and will occasionally assist the Managed Services group. You are responsible for design, management, administration and integration of products, services, applications, and operating level systems code. You will handle responsibilities from basic system installations to the overall architecture and design of custom solutions. - Engineer the design, installation, support and maintenance of production networks and systems to completion. - Integrate and/or consolidate servers and services between different client business units and technologies. - Design, integrate and maintain network services including but not limited to switching, routing, firewalls, wireless networks, and network security. - Design, integrate and maintain high-performance groups of Windows servers for resource-intensive network applications including advanced data center solutions, virtualization, and storage. - Develop and follow Marco best practices and operational procedures and create visual and written documentation. - Analyze system utilization, perform growth analysis and capacity planning, and make technical/process recommendations for improving efficiency. - Provide on-call support advice and technical support to various users/clients regarding operational/applications issues. - Install new and/or upgraded software on server and client platforms. - Design archive and backup systems. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree and six years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Current high level industry recognized certifications including one or more of the following: CCNP/Specialization, EMC-TA, CCE, VCAP, VCDX, BCNP, Call Center Applications or HP MASE. - Preferred experience working with Fortinet and Juniper. - CCIE certification strongly preferred. - Valid Driver’s License, proof of personal insurance and an acceptable driving record. Role Description GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior Network Architect/Engineer to support critical network modernization activities for the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). This technical role focuses on designing, engineering, and executing the transition from legacy transport infrastructure to high-availability, modern enterprise architectures. This position will be remote and requires up to 25% travel. - Serve as the core technical authority for the legacy-to-modern network migration framework. - Lead the comprehensive engineering, technical planning, and execution of migrating legacy T1 lines to modern MPLS networks. - Analyze and address all routing, bandwidth, quality of service (QoS), and latency implications of shifting from T1 to MPLS. - Configure, optimize, and manage enterprise-grade Cisco hardware, specifically Catalyst 8300 edge platforms and Catalyst 9200L switches. - Architect and implement robust, high-availability networks utilizing Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP). - Design and deploy strict dual-homed HSRP redundancy frameworks across all four (4) primary network hubs to eliminate failure points. - Develop the foundational architecture required for eventual, seamless integration into CGOne for central network monitoring. - Conduct technical root cause analysis and performance tuning on Cisco hardware during circuit cutover phases. - Proactively identify architectural risks during the T1 decommissioning process and design targeted engineering workarounds. - Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, low-level designs (LLDs), and network topology diagrams for all four hubs.
