Role Description We're looking for a Head of Observability to join our Observability team and define the future of how Supabase is monitored, debugged, and understood. The group is responsible for supporting our engineers internally, and the millions of developers building on our platform. You'll own the observability strategy end-to-end: the internal platform our teams rely on for incident response and reliability, and the customer-facing product that gives developers deep visibility into their Supabase projects. You'll have significant latitude to evaluate our current tooling, make build-vs-buy decisions, and chart the technical direction for the function. This role is ideal for someone who has built or significantly scaled an observability platform at a devtools company, hyperscaler, or high-scale tech company who is excited about doing it again with a wide mandate and decision-making authority. Qualifications - 8+ years of engineering experience, with 3+ years leading or managing teams - Built, significantly evolved, or operated an observability platform at scale - Deeply technical across the observability stack: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, dashboarding - Hands-on experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, or similar, at production scale - Think about observability as a product, not just infrastructure - Communicate clearly across both technical and non-technical audiences, and write well - Comfortable navigating ambiguity, making high-stakes technical decisions, and moving quickly in a remote-first environment Requirements - Define and execute the observability strategy for Supabase, covering logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and profiling - Evaluate and evolve the observability stack: define the right long-term architecture - Drive convergence toward a single-pane-of-glass experience internally, creating a cohesive and modern platform - Establish SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and capacity planning practices that make observability a first-class input to reliability programs - Own the customer-facing observability experience including dashboards, logs explorer, metrics, alerts - Champion a dogfooding culture where our internal observability platform and our customer-facing product converge - Define and deploy best observability practices across our suite of products - Build and lead a world-class observability engineering team - Collaborate with every engineering team to embed consistent, high-quality instrumentation across all Supabase services using OpenTelemetry and related standards - Contribute to org-wide documentation, advocacy of best practices, and enforcement of telemetry standards - Orchestrate and scale high-throughput data pipelines for telemetry ingestion, storage, and querying - Own the reliability, performance, scaling, and efficiency of observability infrastructure Benefits - Fully Remote: We hire globally. ABOUT THIS ROLE The Chief Development Officer (CDO) sets the fundraising vision and leads the overall fundraising strategy for Working Families Party and Working Families Power. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working closely with the National Director, the CDO is a core member of the senior staff team and plays a central role in shaping the organization and party's long-term political growth. This is a senior role with both an external mandate: major donor leadership, new revenue, and long-term expansion, and an internal mandate: serving as the connective tissue across development, digital, and state and federal fundraising functions, building alignment and shared strategy across a decentralized ecosystem. The CDO is accountable not only for sustaining and aligning an existing national donor base, but for growing it: bringing in new major supporters, deepening conviction, and converting alignment into long-term investment and donor leadership. This role requires sophisticated political judgment, comfort operating in high-stakes moments, and the ability to translate strategy, elections, and movement goals into compelling fundraising opportunities. The CDO supervises the Managing Director of Development who manages a team of five direct reports, systems, forecasting, and day-to-day execution of fundraising programs. Required experience and capabilities: - 15 or more years of experience leading major donor fundraising in political, movement, or Democratic-aligned organizations, including personal responsibility for cultivating and closing six- and seven-figure gifts. - Demonstrated success building trust with major individual donors, donor advisors, and funding networks, and converting alignment and interest into sustained, long-term investment.
