Role Description Findex is seeking a talented and motivated Accountant or Senior Accountant to join our Business Advisory team in Tenterfield, NSW. While we'd love someone who can be on the ground to connect with our local clients — ranging from agriculture and retail to civil machinery and mining — we recognise that the right person may not always be just around the corner. For the right candidate, remote work across Australia is absolutely on the table. Your role, your contribution! - Prepare tax returns, financial statements, business advice statements, and reconciliations for a diverse client base including companies, partnerships, trusts, and individual businesses across agriculture, retail, civil, and mining industries. - Ensure all client work meets technical standards and is delivered within agreed timeframes and budgets, maintaining Findex Group compliance requirements. - Liaise with the ATO and other government bodies on behalf of clients and assist with general bookkeeping duties. - Maintain and grow your technical knowledge to stay current with statutory and regulatory requirements, leveraging Findex's leading cloud-based technology stack. - At Senior Accountant level: provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership to junior team members — reviewing work, delegating tasks, and setting clear goals to support team capability. Qualifications - A degree qualification in accounting or a related discipline, completed CA or CPA or working towards. - Solid public practice experience preparing tax returns, financial statements, and compliance documentation across a variety of entity types including companies, trusts, and partnerships. - Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality. - Confident communication skills and a proactive, client-focused mindset — comfortable liaising with clients, the ATO, and other government bodies. - A positive, professional attitude with a collaborative spirit and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all client matters. - Experience with or enthusiasm for cloud-based accounting platforms (Xero experience highly regarded), and a genuine interest in working within a technologically progressive firm. Benefits - Flexibility that works for you — while Tenterfield-based candidates are preferred, we are genuinely open to remote candidates across Australia, with a team that's been successfully managing remote workflows. - A clear career pathway with real partnership opportunities — the Central North region is actively growing and we're looking for ambitious professionals who want to build a long-term career, not just fill a seat. - Industry-leading technology — Findex was an early adopter of cloud technology, with internal tech development capabilities that put us ahead of local competitors and make your day-to-day work smarter and more efficient. - A supportive team culture centred on gratitude, connection, and genuine care — remote staff consistently report feeling more connected here than in traditional office environments. - Structured learning and development support, including financial assistance for external studies relevant to your role and a clear CA/CPA progression pathway.
