SeqeraSeqera is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. However you identify or whatever your journey to this point, we welcome all candidates to apply for the position that inspires them. Come join us and help us build a global company that everyone is proud to be part of.
Role Description We need someone who sees a broken process and proactively identifies and improves operational gaps — who builds a workaround when the tool fails and treats compliance complexity as a puzzle to solve. Someone genuinely excited by the idea of owning the people operations foundation at a company where processes are still being built. You’ll play a key role in supporting employee lifecycle operations, compliance, HR systems, and day-to-day People processes across a distributed global team. You’ll work closely with People, Finance, IT, and external partners to help ensure our operations remain accurate, compliant, and employee-centered as we scale. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership and opportunities to improve systems, documentation, and workflows over time. What you’ll do - Be the first point of contact for employees on People queries — policies, tools, and day-to-day support — running the JIRA Service Desk as the primary intake channel. - Run onboarding and offboarding end-to-end for every hire across all our locations, and employment models. - Manage employee lifecycle administration in HiBob and related systems, including leave management, compensation updates, benefits changes, and employee records. - Prepare documentation and HRIS updates for performance and compensation review cycles. - Partner with payroll, benefits, and external employment providers to ensure timely and accurate operations. - Maintain HR documentation, policies, contracts, and records in an organized and audit-ready manner. - Support visa and mobility processes in coordination with external immigration partners. - Identify opportunities to improve workflows, documentation, automation, and operational scalability. Payroll & Global Employment Compliance - Run the payroll cycles in coordination with external providers and Finance — ensuring accuracy, on-time delivery, and clean records across all countries. - Administer day-to-day operations with our global employment and benefits partners — managing employee lifecycle changes on platforms and keeping data accurate. - Manage US state-level employment compliance: workers’ compensation registrations, state tax nexus, mandatory paid leave, and local ordinances across all states where Seqera has employees. - Maintain Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) compliance across all jurisdictions — specially Spain and the USA. - Ensure employee data is processed in compliance with GDPR and applicable data protection laws — maintaining records, handling subject access requests, and flagging data risks promptly. Qualifications - 4–6 years of hands-on experience in People Operations, HR, or a generalist role with significant operational scope. - Experience working in a scaling, international, or operationally complex environment, required. - Experience managing multi-country payroll and employee administration. - Working knowledge of Spanish labor law administration — required. - Exposure to US employment law (federal and state level) is a strong plus; UK or Canadian experience is also valued. - Experience with HiBob or a comparable HRIS as an administrator (not just end user). - Familiarity with global employment platforms, benefits vendors, and HR tooling is strongly preferred. - Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field — preferred, not required if your practical experience speaks for itself. - Fluent Spanish and English (professional or native level for both). How you work - Resourceful: When the tool doesn’t do what you need, you find a way. When the process breaks, you fix it. - Bias for action: You’d rather ship an 80% solution today than wait for a perfect one next month — without compromising on compliance or confidentiality. - Detail-oriented: You catch the small things others miss. - Tech-savvy and quick to learn new systems: Comfortable across Slack, JIRA, spreadsheets, and HR tools. - Discreet: You handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and maturity. Benefits - Be part of a mission-driven company empowering scientific innovation. - Work in a global, collaborative, and fast-growing environment. - Opportunity to shape foundational People processes. - Competitive salary and growth opportunities. - Barcelona HQ environment with international exposure. - Remote-friendly culture with meaningful in-person connection.
