Role Description The intern will assist the engineers in the realization of the electrical group's projects. These projects involve the design and integration of power systems, data acquisition, control, etc. This internship is offered for fall 2026. Reporting to the Electrical Designer, the Electrical Intern will be a part of the electrical engineering team and will accomplish the following tasks: - Create electrical schematics for rail vehicles using CAD tools. - Analysis and design of electrical circuits. - List the wiring elements, validate how they are calibrated, their routing, and estimate their length. - List the materials. - Evaluate and select electrical or electronic components. - Develop installation and test procedures. - Conduct on-site and workshop follow-ups, mainly in Canada, providing technical support regarding the manufacturing and installation of electrical components or systems. Qualifications - Studies in Electrical Engineering. - Good knowledge of electrical drawing software: See Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, ePLAN. - Knowledge of electrical components (motors, circuit breakers, relays, frequency variators, etc.). - Ability to communicate in English and French (written and verbal). - Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Experience in the rail industry or the transport industry is an asset. - Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English. Requirements - Must be organized, self-disciplined, and motivated. - Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate in a team environment. - Desire to acquire and apply new knowledge. - Availability to travel outside of the office. Role Description This Electrical Product Inspector position is responsible for performing inspections at manufacturing facilities to ensure that products are being manufactured in accordance with established standards and specifications created by Intertek. This opportunity is part-time, and ideal for someone who is able to be flexible based on the needs of the clients and does not work another job. This is a remote position; however, applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States. What you’ll do: - Plan and conduct surveillance inspections in accordance with scheduling requirements. - Document manufacturer’s production and quality processes; review required production tests, including methods, equipment used and calibration of equipment. - Inspect ETL Listed products, subassemblies and components with respect to the Certification Documents; review ETL label inventory and control; review non-compliances issued as a result of previous inspections and document unresolved issues; select samples as directed. - Document compliance and non-compliance found during the inspection and advise clients on proper resolution. - Complete and submit Follow-up Service Inspection Report for each client inspected. - Communicate information between facility representatives and Intertek personnel. - Maintain expenses within given guidelines. - Perform other work as required. Role Description We are seeking an Electrical Systems Field Specialist (Automation Field Specialist) to join our Reliability team, based in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, or Grande Prairie. The successful candidate will work remotely, often at customer sites to support the delivery of commissioning, startup, and reliability solutions. The successful candidate will bring a solid understanding of electrical distribution, motor control, and programmable devices, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), programmable smart overloads, and other intelligent control devices. A strong ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues in the field is critical to success in this role. Responsibilities - Technical Expertise: - Lead MCC and VFD startup and commissioning activities, including verification of motor control components, VFD programming, smart device configuration (e.g., RVSS, overloads, power meters, breakers), pre-shipment testing, onsite commissioning, and troubleshooting. - Interpret electrical diagrams and documentation; apply knowledge of three-phase systems, transformers, control circuits, and CSA-compliant electrical installations. - Use diagnostic tools (multimeters, meggers, ductors, TTRs, torque wrenches) to test and troubleshoot systems. - Follow and provide input for continuous improvement of electrical safety practices (LOTO, PPE, grounding, arc flash); conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code 22.1, CSA 254, and industry standards. - Develop and execute PdMA testing programs (rotor, stator, insulation, air gap, power quality, power circuits), including MCSA, motor vibration, infrared thermography, and greasing (with clear standards and training). - Team & Program Development: - Learn and provide support to peers with respect to lifecycle services including commissioning and startup activities. - Develop and deliver technical training internally and externally where needed. - Customer & Business Engagement: - Work with customers, sales, and service teams to deliver on-site technical services to support Spartan solutions. - Strong communication skills for customer interaction and technical reporting. - Ensure alignment with Spartan safety standards through collaboration with the Safety Department. - Prepare clear, timely technical documentation and reports. - Travel as required to support customers and program execution.
