Responsibilities - Duties will include design, drawing production, building information modeling (BIM), specification writing, discipline coordination between the various trades, shop drawing and submittal reviews, construction site reviews, and code reviews for MEP systems for Dewberry projects. - Focus will be on the electrical systems for buildings; however, this position may also include assisting with other building systems and the construction process in the various engineering disciplines practiced: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and construction services. - The work may include base building and tenant interior systems on commercial, retail, mixed-use, residential, hotel, transportation, education, and various other types of projects such as microgrids, EV Charging Stations, Fault Current and Arc Flash Studies, and Battery Energy Storage Systems. - Successful candidates may be requested to participate in opportunities in other Dewberry offices. - Duties may also include the review of MEP systems designed by others, interface with code officials and contractors, working with architects and other clients, and working with others within the Dewberry organization. - The Electrical Engineer will also assist with the design and specification of power and control systems, system layouts, load calculations, equipment sizing and selection. Role Description We are seeking an Electrical Systems Field Specialist (Automation Field Specialist) to join our Reliability team, based in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, or Grande Prairie. The successful candidate will work remotely, often at customer sites to support the delivery of commissioning, startup, and reliability solutions. The successful candidate will bring a solid understanding of electrical distribution, motor control, and programmable devices, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), programmable smart overloads, and other intelligent control devices. A strong ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues in the field is critical to success in this role.
