Job Description
Transmission Engineer
PVcase
• Integrate capacity modeling capabilities into our software platform. • Act as an internal subject matter expert and implement ideal modeling assumptions. • Work with external partners to ensure high-quality data. • Provide expertise in responses to user questions and methodology discussions during the sales process. • Generate ideas to improve the product to better fit customer needs. • Work on economic modeling projects related to transmission congestion analysis, LMP basis risk, energy curtailment risk, LMP price forecasting, and economic benefit studies. • Collaborate with software developers to integrate models into our cloud ecosystem. • Assist in technical sales calls with potential new clients. • Conduct analysis to verify and improve outputs from external consultants. • Manage client engagements and ongoing relationships, presenting study results to key stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: transmission planning, renewable grid integration studies, power system economics, large load interconnection, and reliability assessment.
- Previous Consulting experience (EPE, Siemens, LEIDOS, nFront, LCG, Ascend Analytics, ICF, etc.).
- Previous utility/ISO experience (preferably in CAISO, PJM, SPP, MISO, or ERCOT).
- Working knowledge of power system studies.
- Experience with PSS/E and TARA and powerflow modeling solutions (e.g. PowerWorld, PSLF, TSAT, PSCAD/EMTDC, ASPEN).
- Deep understanding of the interconnection queue process and how grid operators (ISOs/RTOs) evaluate new generation/load requests.
- The desire to work in a small and growing team in an autonomous working culture.
- A MSEE or Ph.D.
