Role Description Alteryx is searching for a Principal, Platform Architect. This position is remote-friendly. Alteryx is evolving its cloud platform to support large-scale, multi-tenant workloads, extensibility through customer code and connectors, and a high-quality developer experience. We are looking for a Platform Architect to lead cross-cutting architectural initiatives that span the entire software stack—from platform capabilities to application integration. This role is focused on driving system-wide evolution, not just designing isolated components. You will define architecture, lead major transitions (e.g., cloud migrations, platform shifts), and work across teams to ensure consistent, scalable outcomes. You will combine architectural leadership with hands-on execution—partnering with product, platform, and infrastructure teams to turn complex changes into concrete, deliverable systems. What You’ll Work On - Platform migrations and transformations - Cross-platform architecture alignment - Developer experience and SDLC evolution - System-wide design and integration Primary Responsibilities - Drive cross-cutting architectural initiatives - Lead large-scale efforts that impact multiple teams and systems (e.g., migrations, re-architectures, platform shifts) - Assess impact across the full software ecosystem and define clear execution strategies - Break down complex transitions into actionable plans across teams - Bridge platform, infrastructure, and product teams - Partner with SDLC / DevEx teams to define tooling, workflows, and developer-facing capabilities - Ensure platform capabilities are usable, adoptable, and well-integrated - Support teams during major transitions by providing guidance, patterns, and hands-on help - Identify and remove blockers that slow down adoption or delivery - Step in when needed to prototype or validate key parts of the system - Align multiple teams around shared architectural direction - Drive clear, pragmatic decisions in ambiguous and evolving environments - Communicate trade-offs and ensure consistent understanding across stakeholders Qualifications - Strong software engineering background - Experience building and evolving complex distributed systems across multiple teams - Ability to reason about system interactions, APIs, and integration points at scale - Experience leading large-scale technical changes - Proven track record of driving migrations or cross-cutting initiatives (e.g., cloud migration, architecture evolution) - Ability to assess impact across many services and teams - Solid understanding of cloud platforms (GCP preferred), Kubernetes, and distributed systems - Able to translate infrastructure concerns into software architecture decisions - Strong ability to make trade-offs across teams, systems, and timelines - Proven ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across organizations - Strong communication and ability to work across diverse technical domains - Willing to engage directly with systems and teams to unblock progress and validate ideas Valued Skills - Experience defining internal platform standards or developer workflows - Background in data platforms or analytics systems - Familiarity with internal developer platforms (IDPs) Why This Role Matters Alteryx is undergoing significant platform evolution, including major architectural transitions and cloud migrations. This role is critical to ensuring these changes are executed coherently across the entire software ecosystem—not just at the infrastructure layer, but across services, APIs, and developer workflows. Your work will directly impact how quickly teams can adapt, how safely the platform evolves, and how effectively we can scale both the system and the organization. Compensation Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation is determined by several factors, including but not limited to relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location. - The salary range for this role in the United States is $215,000 - $300,000. - Bonus payouts are based on individual and company performance. - A monthly Connectivity Plus stipend of $150 to support remote work-related expenses - An annual $200 home office reimbursement Benefits - Medical, dental, and vision coverage - 401(k) with company match - Paid parental leave, caregiver leave, and flexible time off - Mental health support and wellness reimbursement - Career development and education assistance Company Description Interested?
