Controller
Paper
• Own and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting • Maintain full ownership of the general ledger, financial statements, and all underlying accounting processes • Serve as the internal expert on US GAAP and technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition under ASC 606 • Review customer contracts and establish appropriate accounting treatment and documentation • Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors • Coordinate with external advisors on tax filings and compliance matters across jurisdictions • Establish and maintain scalable accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls • Oversee billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and fixed assets to ensure accuracy and operational discipline • Own NetSuite as the core accounting system, driving optimization, data integrity, and process automation • Implement new accounting standards and ensure ongoing compliance • Build and document SOPs, strengthen processes, and continuously improve efficiency and reporting quality • Partner closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support growth, new products, and evolving business models • Hire, develop, and manage the accounting team over time.
Job Requirements
- CPA required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant time in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
- Deep expertise in US GAAP and technical accounting
- Strong experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606), including contract review and policy development
- Expert-level proficiency in NetSuite
- Proven experience leading annual audits and working directly with external auditors
- Experience establishing accounting policies, controls, and processes in a high-growth environment
- Strong preference for candidates who have helped build or scale an accounting function in a venture-backed or fast-growing company.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems orientation.

Role Overview: EZ Texting is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function in a complex, multi-entity SaaS environment. This role owns the integrity of the financial statements, oversees a highly transactional revenue model and ensures scalable, GAAP compliant processes that support continued growth The Controller with operate as a hands on leader, managing outsourced resources, strengthening controls and driving operational rigor across systems and reporting. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, experience in evolving organizational structures and the ability to execute with precision in a fast moving PLG business. EZ Texting operates at a high volume, transactional, product-led growth revenue model serving over 25k active customers. Success in this role requires experience managing revenue at scale, where automation, segmentation, lifecycle orchestration and data driven prioritization matter more than bespoke, one-off deal making. Requirements: Qualifications 8+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership responsibilities. Required CPA designation Strong knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 in a SaaS environment Experience operating in a multi-entity structure and supporting consolidated reporting Demonstrated experience integrating acquired or newly formed entities into an existing accounting and ERP environment Experience with post close financial integration activities Experience supporting or leading migrations from internally built billing or revenue systems to third party platforms.
