Role Description The Specialist, Systems Engineer will design complex Land Mobile Radio system solutions that satisfy specific customer requirements. Systems involve L3Harris and vendor equipment, and typically include IP networks, microwave links, wireless data, RF antenna subsystems, 911 dispatch and/or other custom designed subsystems. This position will perform site visits and analyze existing customer technical assets. - Craft high quality proposal text and drawings that clearly and effectively describe the technical solutions being offered. - Participate in discussions and presentations with customers, consultants, vendors and other L3Harris personnel as necessary to advance projects. - Formally present technical solutions and product information to customers, professional organizations, and consultant groups for the designs developed through the proposal process. - Coordinate technical transition of design to implementation system engineer after contract is awarded. - Ability to travel 10%, sometimes required working extended hours. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. - Minimum 1 year experience with LMR communications systems (P25, Tetra, DMR, Microwave and LTE), Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks. Requirements - Knowledge of integrated command and control Dispatch Consoles, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD). - Overall knowledge of Public safety mobile broadband networks and devices (LTE). - Experience in telecommunication systems design involving LMR communications systems (P25, Tetra, DMR, Microwave and LTE), Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks. - A knowledge of both public and private communications systems (e.g. APCO P25, DMR, Tetra, LTE, 802.11, 3G/4G) is highly desirable. - Experience in design of IP networks, RF antenna systems, two-way radio systems, microwave systems, wireless data systems, data networking, as well as system configuration is desired. - Knowledge of RF coverage predictions, including coverage analysis, frequency reuse, traffic/capacity modeling. - Good communications skills, including good written and interpersonal communication skills. - Good presentation skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences in English (any additional language is a plus). - Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated capacity to effectively foster team building within and beyond his/her work group.
