Role Description The Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) and Colorado State University (CSU) seeks to hire a temporary hourly employee to assist collaborative research and development relating to the Geolocated Information Processing System (GeoIPS) for approximately 3 months with the possibility to extend to 9 months contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance. The individual in this position will report to the Project Lead and support: - Implementation of new remote sensing algorithms into the system - Ingest of new data feeds from on-site data receivers - Operation and maintenance of the system in support of both near real-time and batch processing needs This position is fully remote, with communication conducted via video conference at regular intervals as agreed upon by all involved. Qualifications - Must be enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science or a related field - Experience developing software in Python - Experience using scientific data processing packages for Python such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn - Experience working with git and on open-source projects Requirements - Must be a citizen of the United States or Lawful Permanent Resident with a physical USCIS “Green Card” because this position is funded by a US Department of Defense contract Preferred Qualifications - Proficiency with Linux environments - Experience developing in a compiled language (e.g. C, C++, Go, Fortran) - Interest in satellite remote sensing - Experience interacting with databases Salary Range $15.16 - $18.00 Required Application Documents To apply, please upload the following applicant documents: - Cover Letter - Resume/CV Ensure your materials fully address the required and preferred job qualifications of the position.
