Role Description Gong is seeking a Compensation Director to help lead the strategy, design, and execution of global compensation programs that support our growth and business objectives. This leader will play a critical role in shaping Gong’s compensation philosophy, scaling compensation infrastructure, and ensuring programs remain competitive, equitable, and aligned to Gong’s business strategy. As a strategic partner to the business, this role will drive high value compensation initiatives that have real business impact across all base, variable, and equity compensation, scaling in a fast-paced, pre-IPO environment. Responsibilities - Help lead Gong’s global compensation strategy, programs, and operations across salary, equity, incentives, and job architecture. - Partner with executive leadership, Finance, Talent Acquisition, and HRBPs to align compensation programs with business strategy and workforce planning. - Oversee annual compensation planning processes, including merit cycles, promotions, equity refreshes, and executive compensation support. - Build scalable compensation frameworks and infrastructure capable of supporting a rapidly growing global organization. - Drive compensation analytics and insights to support executive decision making, organizational planning, retention strategy, and market competitiveness. - Lead compensation benchmarking and market analysis efforts to ensure programs remain competitive and aligned to industry trends. - Develop and optimize compensation processes, systems, governance, and reporting capabilities. - Partner closely with People Systems, Operations, and Analytics teams to improve automation, scalability, and data integrity across compensation workflows. - Create executive-ready presentations and narratives that communicate compensation outcomes, trends, risks, and recommendations. - Lead and develop competency in compensation across multiple People teams. - Support broader Total Rewards and People initiatives, including organizational design, leveling, career frameworks, and pre-IPO readiness activities. Qualifications - 10+ years of progressive compensation experience leading highly visible initiatives in high-growth technology companies. - Deep expertise in compensation strategy, analytics, equity programs, and compensation operations. - Strong business acumen with experience advising and presenting to senior leaders at all levels. - Advanced analytical and modeling skills with expertise in Google Sheets/Excel and compensation planning methodologies. - Experience building scalable compensation programs and infrastructure in fast-paced, evolving organizations. - Exceptional communication and executive stakeholder management skills. - Strong project leadership skills with the ability to drive complex, cross-functional initiatives. - Experience supporting global organizations and pre-IPO environments strongly preferred.
