Role Description We're now hiring a Founding Engineer — a pivotal role in shaping the technical foundation and culture of Velix. You'll join as one of the first engineers, working directly with the founders to translate customer pain into scalable, elegant systems that make logistics finance work like magic. What You'll Do: - Own your work, from requirements gathering to building the user interface, backend architecture, and infrastructure, including ongoing operations. - Design and build our reconciliation and billing platform, from document processing pipelines and API integrations to user interfaces and browser automations. - Collaborate closely with customers and founders to understand real pain points and translate them into elegant technical solutions. - Move fast, ship fast. Propose and deliver solutions end-to-end without heavy oversight. - Wear multiple hats. You might spin up infrastructure one day, design an internal tool the next, and optimize performance the day after. - Shape the culture. Help define our engineering principles, code quality standards, and internal processes as we scale. - Build with leverage. Use AI tools like Claude Code and Codex to accelerate delivery, prototype ideas, and improve developer velocity. - Contribute to product strategy. Work hand-in-hand with design to simplify complexity into intuitive UX and actionable insights. - Think in systems. Design scalable, modular components that make it easy for others to build on your work later. - Deliver incremental functionality. Break projects and features down into incremental deliverables to provide quick, visible results to customers and other stakeholders. Qualifications - 6+ years experience with a combination of experience with 0-1 application development and full ownership of the software lifecycle through deployment. - Has prior experience working directly with non-engineer stakeholders/founders, WITHOUT support from product managers. - AI enthusiast - Built prototypes via Claude Code/Codex and they know how to get more done with AI workflows; comfortable working in an AI-first environment. - Able to write well-factored algorithms and have experience with commonly used data structure and algorithms. - Customer obsession, ability to articulate and represent customer experience in various forums to drive the right outcome; comfortable working directly with customers to gather requirements. - A collaborative, low-ego attitude and team-first mindset. - Experience in logistics, APIs, or multi-sided platforms. Bonus Points - Experience at an early-stage startup. - Prior work in FinTech, APIs, logistics, or multi-sided platforms. - Proven experience building products with significant data or financial complexity.
