Accounts Receivable Claims Specialist

• Process daily tasks assigned from the billing software system. • Enter and process data related to patient care and reimbursement. • Check to ensure all patient documents are on file and completed correctly. • Connect with insurance payors by telephone or online regarding non-payment or short payment on outstanding claims. • Respond to insurance payor correspondence. • Contact patients on outstanding balances, assist with payment plans and financial hardships. • Review and resolve denied claims and resubmit corrected claims to payors for reprocessing. • Work AR aging reports for payors and patients. • Review claims forms to primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance payors as needed. • Submit write-offs, adjustments, and refunds. • Ensure month-end billing deadlines are met. • Work accounts promptly to ensure claims are processed appropriately. • Provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers. • Review HCPC, modifiers, and ICD-10 codes for accuracy while keeping up with compliance and coverage criteria to update employees as needed. • Meets work standards by following productivity, quality, and customer service standards established by the company. • Complies with Corporate Compliance and HIPAA responsibilities. • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Experience with HCPC, ICD-10 medical terminology, accounts receivable, insurance collections and payor requirements, or billing.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately and pay attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Software- Excel, Word and Outlook and databases.
- Strong data entry skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
- Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with clinical and non-clinical personnel, patients, and care givers in a professional and respectful manner.
- Demonstrate organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Dependable, reliable, and punctual.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in medical billing and collections.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in accounts receivable, claims, and insurance payor requirements.
- Familiarity of Medicare and Medicaid preferred.
- Knowledge of Orthotics, Prosthetics, and DME billing preferred.

Role Description Elwyn seeks a Revenue Cycle Specialist who is responsible for ensuring that the billing department accurately submits claims and/or encounters for clinical services and adheres to claim submissions deadlines. Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding, International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) coding, Medicare Revenue Codes, UB-40 and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) in relation to mental health services is essential. - Manage claims in a web-based billing and claiming environment with tasks including but not limited to accurately perform charge entry into clearinghouses and payer portals, confirming patient eligibility and plan coverage. - Research and identify CPT/HCPCS billing revenue codes and utilize electronic claim forms UB/Healthcare Financing Administration (HCFA) to bill claims. - Confirm appropriate ICD-10 diagnostic codes to ensure proper billing. - Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and confirm plan requirements to ensure all collectable revenue is identified. - Communicate with peers and supervisors to address billing and claims issues as appropriate and as needed. - Participate in internal billing audits to reduce billing errors and maximize collections. - Be available for alternative work schedules including flexibility to work within the following time slots: 8:00am – 8:00pm; occasional evening and weekend work as needed based on workload. - Generate daily batching reports based on total claims billed. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: - 3+ years’ experience working with attorneys and clients in law firm collections and legal billing - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, preferred. A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered - Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate client matter in finance system - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate professionally across a wide range of audiences (i.e. attorneys, clients, legal staff, etc.) - Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite The anticipated salary range for candidates residing in NY is $60,000 - $70,000.
