• Operate, configure and further develop the ~50 × 4 application server instances (JBoss, Apache, Tomcat)—VM and OS operations are not part of this role • Manage deployments, connectors, datasources, clustering, load balancing and SSL certificates • Analyze incidents and provide 2nd / 3rd level support—including log analysis, heap dumps and stack traces • Read and interpret Java code to diagnose environment-related issues in collaboration with the Java Developer • Coordinate with the Linux team on maintenance windows, VM sizing and cross-layer troubleshooting • Drive automation and scripting to optimize application server operations
Job Requirements
- Several years of experience as a System Engineer with a clear focus on application servers (JBoss / WildFly, Apache HTTPD, Tomcat)
- Deep understanding of middleware configuration, logging, performance, security and clustering
- Solid Linux skills and scripting experience (Bash, Python, Ansible) for automation at the application server level—VM and OS administration are not required
- Basic Java skills—able to read and follow code without being a developer
- Experience with monitoring tools, logging stacks and performance analysis
- Business fluency in English
- Familiarity with enterprise security concepts (WAF, IAM, LDAP, SAML) is nice to have
- Experience with firewall rules and network architectures is nice to have
- Azure / Cloud Platforms is nice to have
- German is an advantage
