• Assess the accuracy and completeness of inpatient and outpatient medical record documentation through the conduct of random and focused coding audits. • Document findings, prepare and present audit results and perform investigations to provide comprehensive feedback. • Serve as a subject matter expert in coding, offering guidance and support to ensure compliance with established coding standards, regulatory requirements and organizational best practices. • Audit Electronic Medical Records, procedural cases and surgical cases, including pre-bill coding, DRG and APC quality audits, case mix analysis and compliance software reviews for highly complex cases. • Provide feedback on the application of coding guidelines, practices, proper documentation techniques, data quality improvements and revenue enhancement opportunities. • Perform retrospective and concurrent audits in accordance with coding guidelines to ensure coding accuracy and proper reporting. • Prepare and present reports for pre-bill and retrospective coding audits directly to Providers and coding staff. • Analyze coded data to identify areas of risk and provide recommendations for documentation improvement. • Assist in the development of programs and procedures to improve coding accuracy rates. • Interact with Providers and coding staff to resolve documentation or coding issues. • Respond to coding questions from assigned coders and Providers, providing official coding references and guidelines. • Maintain routine interaction with Providers and coding staff to address and resolve medical record documentation and coding issues. • Assist in the facilitation of scheduled external audits.

Role Description The Principal Oversight Inspector (POI) is responsible for the full range of certification, surveillance, and inspection duties for assigned air carriers, air operators, air agencies, airmen, and designees. Has program responsibility to assure that assigned organizations meet Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) with respect to flight operations programs. Establishes work programs for inspection and surveillance. Duties - Technical Administration - Ensures assigned organizations are properly organized, staffed, and equipped. - Establishes and conducts adequate training programs. - Maintains record keeping systems and ensures procedures meet regulatory requirements. - Chairs joint FAA and industry meetings. - Maintains regular contact with assigned organizations and coordinates with top management officials. - Requires or directs correction of deficiencies/discrepancies; refuses or withdraws approval if unresolved. - Conducts enforcement investigations and prepares final reports and recommendations. - Performs or supervises emergency suspension of certificates or cancellation of operations specifications. - Conducts investigations of public complaints, congressional inquiries, and aircraft incidents/accidents. - Provides technical assistance to legal counsel, testifies at court trials and formal hearings. - Coordinates MEL approvals with the principal inspector. - Takes enforcement action in instances of noncompliance with the MEL. - Coordinates with geographic inspectors for non-routine air carrier surveillance. - Certification - Approves/accepts or disapproves/rejects manuals and revisions. - May require amendments to previously approved manuals. - Evaluates training programs to ensure compliance with 14 CFR. - Approves or disapproves training programs including flight simulators and training devices. - Approves/disapproves designation of check airmen and makes recommendations on designees. - Evaluates operations and facilities through on-site inspections. - Negotiates changes in policies and procedures. - Determines methods for securing corrective action and evaluates effectiveness. - Evaluates and approves/disapproves requests to operate under new conditions. - Approves original issuance of operations specifications and operating certificates. - Directs or participates in flight evaluations for compliance with 14 CFR. - Surveillance - Monitors all phases of operations including training programs and records. - Coordinates with geographic inspectors to identify trends indicating safety deterioration. - Monitors activities of designated examiners, check airmen, and instructors. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Flight Oversight ASIs do not conduct certification job functions as a required crewmember, including safety pilot. - The incumbent will not act as a required crewmember or safety pilot of an aircraft. - Applies broad knowledge of the aviation industry, aviation safety, and Federal aviation laws, regulations, and policies. Requirements - US Citizenship is required. - Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. - Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents). - Selectee will be required to report to an AVS/FAA Flight Standards Facility. • Monitor coding compliance through prebill and retrospective reviews or audits of ICD and/or CPT codes assigned by coding staff. • Monitor coding compliance by performing focused audits on high-risk areas identified by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). • Identify through focused audits operational and regulatory issues related to coding, documentation, and compliance. • Identify and alert to trends found in reviews or data through Summary Reports. Provide education and training for coders and other healthcare professionals in both one on one and group settings. • Follow Federal, State, and CSHS Compliance requirements to assist in improved data quality for reporting, research, and accurate billing and reimbursement of services rendered. • Assist the HID Coding Department with coding of cases during shortage of staff.
