Staff Accountant

Matternet

The Staff Accountant will support Matternet’s core accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, timely transaction processing, and compliance with tax and reporting requirements. This role will manage supplier administration, accounts payable activities, routine reconciliations, and tax compliance support, playing a key role in maintaining strong financial controls as the company scales. Responsibilities:  - Manage vendor setup and maintenance, including invoice processing and inquiry resolution - Monitor AP inboxes and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items - Post and reconcile credit card and bank transactions - Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support month-end close - Clear routine reconciling items and maintain supporting schedules - Prepare and submit use tax, local tax, and 1099 filings - Assist with corporate and state tax compliance and maintain filing calendars

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable or general ledger functions
  • Preferred: Previous experience as a Staff Accountant in a manufacturing or product-based company.
  • Experience with transaction processing, reconciliations, and month-end close support
  • Familiarity with tax compliance filings (use tax, property tax, 1099 reporting)
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems/ERP platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Location Requirement: Must be based in California or Texas.

  • Compensation: The expected base salary range for this role is $60,000–$80,000. This range reflects the target starting pay for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the role. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your experience, skills, level, location, and potential impact.
  • Total Rewards: In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for equity along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; flexible spending accounts (FSA); flexible paid time off; company holidays; and a 401(k) plan.

Role Description Billtrust is seeking a Senior Accountant with deep expertise in cash operations and forecasting to support the global cash conversion cycle. This role operates in a fast-paced, high volume SAAS environment with a growing international footprint and requires strong cross-functional collaboration, systems aptitude, and data-driven reporting. The Senior Accountant owns cash governance, cash flow reporting, and forecasting, supporting working capital management and daily treasury operations. This role partners closely with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Payroll, and international stakeholders in a highly collaborative, remote environment. In addition to treasury responsibilities, the Senior Accountant contributes to core accounting activities including month-end close, internal controls, and regulatory and reporting compliance. What You'll Do - Cash Operations and Control - Record and/or review daily cash receipts and payments - Prepare daily and monthly bank to general ledger to forecast reconciliations - Maintain segregation of duties and other internal controls to protect against risk - Liquidity Management and Reporting - Prepare and monitor compulsory lender and bank reporting - Support PBC requests for required audits or regulatory compliance filings - Prepare the U.S. GAAP Statement of Cash Flow - Maintain bank and lender relationships; conduct annual operational reviews - Cash Governance - Run the cash governance program sourcing forecasts for cash inflows and outflows primarily from, but not limited to, AR, AP, FP&A, Payroll and Tax - Prepare cash forecasts (daily, 13 week and 13 month) using the indirect and direct methods; demonstrate continuous improvement in accuracy and speed - Keep score and deliver actionable insights to optimize DSO, DPO, and other working capital levers - Subject Matter Expertise - Uphold a high standard of using SAAS industry trends and technology to improve accuracy and speed - Stay up to date in banking trends, fraud risk, interest rate and currency fluctuations - Complete core accounting responsibilities including journal entries, reconciliations and compliance responsibilities, as assigned - Self-Driven Value Creation - Drive scenario planning with cascading decision trees.
