Role Description We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to ensure the reliability and performance of our core AI infrastructure. In this role, you are an engineer who builds sophisticated automation frameworks and stress-testing suites to break and then harden our system. You will be responsible for validating the intersection of distributed systems, GPU kernels, and AI frameworks. You will build a scalable foundation of trust in our code, ensuring that our performance-critical primitives work every time, at any scale. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain a robust automated testing framework from the ground up that supports distributed AI training and inference workloads. - Develop complex test plans that go beyond unit tests, focusing on end-to-end system integration, stress testing, and hardware-software boundary conditions. - Partner closely with System Engineers to debug deep-seated issues in distributed clusters, using telemetry and profiling tools to identify bottlenecks. Qualifications - Strong proficiency in Python (for automation and orchestration). - Proven experience building or extending test automation frameworks for complex back-end systems. - Proven ability to troubleshoot automated test failures within complex large-scale distributed systems, and identify root causes. - Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and modern CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins). Desired Skills - Experience with Kubernetes or Terraform or Ansible for managing test-bed environments. - Experience testing high-performance networking protocols or distributed file systems. - Experience testing software that interacts directly with drivers or firmware. Education - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Compensation - Target base salary for this role is $140,000 - $200,000 per year + meaningful equity + benefits + 401k. - Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, experience, and location. Agency Note We do not accept resumes from agencies or search firms. Please do not forward candidate profiles through our careers page, email, LinkedIn messages, or directly to company employees. Any resumes submitted will be deemed the property of the company, and no fees will be paid in the event the candidate is hired.
• Develops a deep understanding of product functionality, system architecture, and customer usage patterns to inform testing approaches. • Contributes to test strategy by identifying quality risks, gaps in coverage, and opportunities to improve confidence in releases. • Influences broader testing direction through technical leadership and collaboration rather than ownership of formal approval gates. • Designs, implements, and maintains high-quality automated tests across appropriate layers, including API, integration, and system-level testing. • Continuously evaluates existing test coverage, strengthens weak areas, and reduces redundant or low-value tests. • Executes tests as needed to validate changes and support release readiness. • Builds and maintains reliable, maintainable automated test suites integrated into CI pipelines. • Improves test stability, execution speed, and signal quality to support fast and safe development workflows. • Works closely with engineers to ensure tests run effectively across branches and environments. • Executes existing load and performance tests, reviews and reports results, and maintains the test suite as needed. • Partners with Load and Performance test engineers who own performance test creation and expansion. • Contributes to technical design discussions from a quality and testability perspective. • Dives deep into complex systems to diagnose issues, understand failure modes, and identify root causes. • Proposes pragmatic improvements to architecture, testing approaches, or tooling to reduce long-term quality risk. • Helps define and evolve test and quality metrics that provide meaningful insight into system health and testing effectiveness. • Uses data to guide decisions, prioritize improvements, and surface systemic issues. • Contributes to documentation, runbooks, and best practices that improve team efficiency and consistency. • Works closely with Engineering and Product partners to ensure quality considerations are addressed throughout the development lifecycle. • Influences testing standards, practices, and tooling adoption through example, technical credibility, and constructive collaboration. • Adheres to all confidentiality and compliance regulations. • Performs other duties as assigned.
**Position Summary:** This is an exciting opportunity to join Telestream’s QA automation team as a Software Engineer in Test, working on products used in high profile live events such as sports, music, and reality television, as well as file-based media workflows for broadcast networks and cable companies. In this role, you will do more than simply find bugs; you will help build the sophisticated engineering backbone that ensures our media processing and streaming services remain world class and collaborate directly with developers to bake quality into the code from the start.
• Design, develop, and implement highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable test automation frameworks across multiple platforms. • Serve as the technical authority on testing methodologies, tools, and best practices. • Drive high standards for test code quality, structure, and maintainability, including code reviews for automation scripts. • Design and execute advanced non-functional tests, including performance and load tests. • Partner with development and product teams to integrate testing practices early in the development lifecycle. • Own and optimize the integration of automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline. • Expertly debug and analyze complex system failures to identify root causes. • Coach and mentor junior and mid-level SDETs and software engineers on technical design and testing strategy.
