• Lead the accounting team through the monthly close across 9 entities and multiple currencies, driving accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement • Own the close checklist and reconciliation workflows, leveraging close management tooling to maintain visibility and accountability • Partner with FP&A on pre- and post-close review meetings, including revenue and variance analysis • Manage intercompany eliminations and ensure consistency across entities, including structures involving transfer pricing and IP royalty arrangements • Oversee AP workflows, including vendor invoice processing, purchase order approvals, and domestic and international contractor payments • Coordinate international payroll submissions and commission payments with third-party payroll providers • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for banking operations, lender reporting, and investor reporting requirements • Lead the annual audit process end-to-end, including PBC list management, auditor correspondence, and resolution of technical accounting topics such as revenue recognition under ASC 606, impairment, intangible amortization, deferred revenue, and foreign currency • Own multi-entity compliance and intercompany reconciliations, and liaise with external advisors including auditors and legal counsel as needed • Lead the build-out of transaction-level GL infrastructure to support financial reporting quality and due diligence readiness, maintaining data integrity across a high volume of transactions and multiple entities • Drive process documentation and internal controls with a focus on building audit-ready infrastructure that can withstand rigorous external scrutiny • Partner with the VP Controller and cross-functional stakeholders on systems implementations and process improvement initiatives, bringing experience navigating mid-stream system changes and integrations • Manage and develop 1–2 accountants as a true player-coach — you're in the work alongside the team, not just reviewing it • Bring a proactive, get-it-done attitude that sets the tone for the team

Job Requirements

  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and SaaS or tech industry background
  • CPA required
  • Strong technical accounting skills under US GAAP, with particular depth in ASC 606 revenue recognition, multi-currency consolidations, intercompany accounting, and deferred revenue
  • Experience working in a PE-backed environment and comfort interfacing with external auditors, lenders, and investors
  • NetSuite experience preferred; familiarity with close management, reconciliation, or billing tools a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build and maintain complex models and reconciliations

Role Description Accounting Specialist for Farms & Food Businesses This role is part of the Good Roots Accounting Services team and reports directly to the Director of Accounting. This role is focused on providing customized managerial bookkeeping and accounting services to our clients within the context of ongoing bookkeeping services or as incorporated into projects with other team members providing business consulting expertise. This is a challenging role working with multiple concurrent client projects utilizing complex business models in the farming and food system.
