Role Description The Marketing Team Director (referred to internally as a Practice Area Director) leads Good Roots’ marketing practice—with a people first management mindset, setting strategic direction, service refinement, business development and overseeing all the execution of said marketing services across client engagements while building a high-performing team that delivers exceptional outcomes. This leader brings deep, broad expertise across all marketing competency areas and is highly capable of directly delivering marketing services directly to Good Roots farm and food business clients. The Director manages the Marketing Consultant(s) and is accountable for the practice area’s service quality, client outcomes, team development, and growth. The split of time between management functions and direct client engagement (billable work) is approximately 60/40. This position reports directly to the Director of Service Delivery. - Limited travel required (2-4 times/year) to attend potential client in-person visits and/or conferences. Qualifications - Proven senior-level expertise in marketing and management across all core competency areas—strategy, brand, content, digital, demand generation, and analytics. - Minimum of five years of progressive marketing experience, with at least three years in a leadership or team management role. - Tech Savvy: Highly proficient in Google Suite, Zoom, Slack, and project management software. Deep working knowledge of marketing platforms across automation/CRM (HubSpot, Mailchimp), analytics, CMS, paid media, SEO, and design tools. - Process Improvement: Develop and maintain written procedures, trainings and other resources that capture approach and processes for executing on marketing services. - Analytical: Fearlessly determined to dig into clients’ marketing data, determine the appropriate courses of action in collaboration with team members, and educate clients on better processes appropriate for their level of understanding. - Project Management: Capable of efficiently and decisively managing a multitude of client projects, team needs, and competing priorities. - Project Design: Skilled in matching services to clients’ needs and skills while supporting their continuous improvement and empowerment. - Consultative Strategist: Highly capable of leading executive-level strategy conversations—framing business problems through a marketing lens, designing roadmaps, navigating ambiguity, and influencing decisions across complex client organizations. - Management Functions: Well-versed in all core areas of management, including planning, organizing, staffing, accountability, and leadership. - Emotionally Intelligent: Exemplary skills related to self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Requirements - Experience in the farming and agriculture industry. - Experience leading the growth of a marketing agency, consulting practice, or fractional CMO practice. - Strong communication skills and attention to detail. - Deep expertise in both B2B and B2C marketing; relevant certifications (HubSpot, Google Ads, Google Analytics) preferred. - Experience leading marketing engagements for mission-driven clients. - Experience managing a practice area P&L, including capacity planning, pricing service offerings, and tracking utilization and profitability. What you can expect - First 30 Days: Integrate with the team, understand Good Roots’ values, systems and platforms, marketing services approach and begin to take on existing client projects. - 30-60 Days: Start managing practice area members' daily workflow and professional development, contribute to strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and new project scoping. - 60-90 Days: Fully lead the marketing team, support the hiring and training of new team members, oversee the practice area budget, and contribute to service innovation and quality control. - 90 Days and beyond: Lead all aspects of the marketing practice—setting strategy, deepening key client relationships, growing the team, and continuously evolving service offerings to advance Good Roots’ mission and clients’ outcomes.
Role Description Accounting Specialist for Farms & Food Businesses This role is part of the Good Roots Accounting Services team and reports directly to the Director of Accounting. This role is focused on providing customized managerial bookkeeping and accounting services to our clients within the context of ongoing bookkeeping services or as incorporated into projects with other team members providing business consulting expertise. This is a challenging role working with multiple concurrent client projects utilizing complex business models in the farming and food system. Join us and play a pivotal role in improving our clients' financial clarity and performance while contributing to the growth and success of our team. What you'll do - Create financial foundations for clients using Good Roots existing financial management structure and approach. - Reorganize clients’ existing chart of accounts to fit Good Roots established COA standards. - Develop and perform bookkeeping processes for clients, including: - Entering daily or weekly transactions - Monthly reconciliations of bank, credit card, and loan accounts - Recording sales - Monitoring accounts receivable - Processing accounts payable - Running payroll - Posting journal entries for certain accounting adjustments - Forensic cleanup, conversions from other platforms, and troubleshooting as needed - Develop client-facing simplified SOPs for any of the above bookkeeping tasks. - Develop and execute monthly financial reporting packages and virtual client meetings to review them. - Virtually teach and train clients through effective communication on business processes, including processes for QBO and related platforms (i.e., Ramp, Shopify, Square) and specialized accounting workflows. - Validate clients’ complete understanding of their financial systems by effective follow-through. - Assist Good Roots Business Consultants with: - Advanced analyses of accounting-related subjects - Development and implementation of complex accounting processes - Curating relevant client-facing tools and resources - Other such collaborations - Contribute to the creation of proposals and scopes of work for new projects. - Collaborate with the rest of the Accounting Services team to periodically refine and elevate the approach and methods for executing accounting services that stay relevant and competitive with changing technology and standards. Qualifications - 3 - 6 years of experience in accounting: Principles, theory, and application. Specific expertise in QuickBooks Online. - Tech Savvy: Highly proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Slack, and project management software. Previous remote work experience. - Process Improvement: Strong ability to learn from, follow, and develop written procedures for internal work and as resources for clients. - Analytical: Fearlessly determined to dig into clients’ books, determine the appropriate courses of action in collaboration with team members, and educate clients on better processes appropriate for their level of understanding. - Project Management: Capable of efficiently and decisively managing a multitude of tasks; highly self-directed. Ability to efficiently handle ‘hat switching’ between client projects is paramount to success. - Emotionally Intelligent: Exemplary skills related to self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Preferred experience - Located in EST or CST. - 3+ years of QuickBooks experience, QBO ProAdvisor certification preferred (required post-hire). - Previous direct experience in the farming and agriculture industry or aggie adjacent. - Firm understanding of GAAP. - Understanding of nationwide sales tax and payroll processes. Deploy what you have learned in training on live projects. Begin to work with our clients alongside supportive senior members of our team. Continue to get to know everyone. - 60-90 Days: Take on ownership of key project responsibilities which may include serving as a project lead or ownership of the bulk of the accounting deliverables on a given project. Understand the tools at your disposal to manage the scope, timeline, budget, and client happiness of you and other project members in accounting. - 90 Days and beyond: Jump in all the way! Execute with diligence and quality on all functions of your role as a service provider. Engage as a consistent and crucial member of the Good Roots organization via attendance of bi-weekly meetings with your manager, bi-weekly Practice Area Team meetings, Monthly All Team Meetings, Slack communities, and other non-project related activities.
