Principal Payments Product Architect

Versapay

• Serve as an internal expert on the payments systems • Partner on the payment’s product strategy • Unlock opportunities for Versapays customers with payments partners • Create reference architectural designs and custom solutions that develop and employ our payments platforms in ways that uplevel and inform while delivering on Customer/partner needs • Assess partners and vendors for customer needs and product roadmap • Demonstrate a deep understanding of internal invoice to cash and payments applications, articulating designs that create a compounding platform value for our users. Lead forward-looking design and investment in those to evolve those platforms • Use that understanding to write detailed requirements and lead the execution of payments platform initiatives • Review partner and vendor API documentation and functional specs to translate to the Versapay ecosystem • Act as a trusted advisor to Product Management, Engineering, and external teams on complex solution design and implementation best practices. • Work directly with Customers and partners to guide design decisions, to develop creative technical solutions, and to lead execution of those solutions • Educate our product and engineering teams on market trends and strongly influence the product roadmap • Be outside in: Serve as an internal “voice of the Customer” and provide critical insights into market trends, technologies, and money movement trends.

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years in business payments product or strategy experience
  • 5+ years working with cross functional teams as a technical product owner in an agile development process
  • Possess deep analysis thinking and proven ability to interpret information to inform decision-making
  • Fintech and identity vendor partner experiences
  • Deep expertise on the payment rail systems and messaging systems
  • Knowledge of machine learning models & credit decisioning frameworks
  • Knowledge of API specifications, file formats and messaging systems
  • Operate in a complex cross-functional environment, leading and influencing others, ultimately resulting in timely tactical decision-making to advance our objectives
  • Ability to connect to databases to inspect/change data
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex payments operations, flows and data concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Strong ability to present to C-level leadership and managing stakeholders.
  • “Builder” Mentality: Entrepreneurial and scrappy mindset. Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments with a track record of defining and executing net new initiatives. A desire to solve problems with no obvious path forward.
