Role Description We are seeking a Sales Tax Compliance Paraprofessional to join our growing State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. This role is focused on executing the end-to-end sales tax compliance process for a portfolio of clients, while also assisting with process improvements and supporting the development of scalable compliance tools. You will play an important role in helping our team deliver high-quality client service while contributing to the continued development and expansion of our SALT practice. Duties & Responsibilities: - Sales Tax Compliance Execution - Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns for multiple clients - Manage the full compliance lifecycle, including: - Sending monthly data requests and reminders to clients - Reviewing and organizing client-provided data - Preparing returns and supporting schedules - Filing returns and coordinating payments - Documenting filings, payments, and supporting workpapers - Client Data & Process Management - Track filing deadlines and maintain a centralized compliance calendar - Maintain client login credentials, account data, and filing records - Assist in reconciling client data to filed returns to ensure accuracy and completeness - Notice & Account Support - Assist with responding to state notices and resolving account issues - Support the team in maintaining proper documentation, including powers of attorney where applicable - Process Improvement & Technology - Support development and refinement of internal tools, including: - Filing calendars - Data reconciliation tools - Process workflows to enhance efficiency - Work with internal systems and compliance software (e.g., data uploads, templates, or tax engines) - Research & Additional Support - Perform light sales tax research as needed - Assist with related SALT projects (e.g., nexus reviews, taxability analyses) during non-peak periods This role operates on a monthly compliance cycle, where the majority of time is spent on return preparation, filing, and documentation. Additional time may be allocated to process improvement, tool development, and light research outside peak compliance periods. Qualifications - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - Ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple client engagements - Effective written and verbal communication skills - Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer systems - Demonstrated ability to learn new processes and systems quickly Requirements - Preferred (but not required): - Exposure to accounting, finance, or tax concepts - Experience with sales tax compliance or tax-related processes - Familiarity with sales tax software or data tools - Note: A formal tax credential is not required for this role. Salary Range $64,000 — $72,000 USD
