Role Description We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented and proven Claims Technician to join our newly established Subsidence team. This is a home-based role. The opportunity: - Reporting to the Subsidence Lead and working closely with colleagues, you will be an active member of a team project managing a portfolio of subsidence losses from notification to conclusion. - You will provide effective support to Adjusters, as well as managing aspects of the claim process yourself, and ensuring timely progression of cases along with superior service. Qualifications - An understanding of subsidence and subsidence claims handling is desired, although not essential with willingness to develop knowledge. - You must have previous claims handling experience including caseload management. - You will be, or be willing to become, CILA/CII qualified. - Organised and able to self-manage workload, having a methodical, accurate and analytical approach to work, with a considerable pride in the quality of output. - Good working knowledge of Word and Excel. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to communicate in a clear, concise, structured and empathic manner. - Strong relationship management skills, with a capability of establishing good working relationships with your team, colleagues and 3rd parties. - Excellent stakeholder management with an ability to manage multiple priorities and conflicting demands. - Thrive in a busy customer focused working environment. - Be driven to meet and exceed targets. - Flexible with regards to travel which may be required as and when. Requirements - Administration of new claims including receiving instruction, issuing acknowledgments, setting up files and undertaking of risk screening and triaging. - Working closely with Adjusters to assist with investigation and validation enquiries. - Controlling the lifecycle of the files to drive diary management and support the proactive management of claims from setting up to conclusion. - Self-managing aspects of the claim process assigned to yourself in a timely fashion. - Overseeing Adjuster caseloads when necessary during periods of leave. - Being a focal point or lead contact for stakeholders where needed, and providing support, assistance and information. - Liaising as required with the insured, insurers, brokers and any other stakeholders to ensure optimum customer service, becoming a coordinator where needed for interested parties. - Aiding the production of technical reports for Adjusters in compliance with professional standards and internal guidelines and in accordance with agreed timescales. - Ensuring time reporting and billing is compliant with internal standards processing and systems. - Developing and running management information for clients as well as for internal use, including performance measurement and data integrity reports. - Ensuring company standards are met in relation to all technical and operational policies and procedures, including data protection and information security. - Account management support where required. - Incoming telephone calls / resolve queries. - Invoicing. - Other ad hoc work as required. Role Description This role is primarily responsible for processing financial transactions for the claim team such as: - Initiating stop and void transactions - Processing lump sum payments due to underpayments - Resolving EFT failures - Assisting with research in escheatment of uncashed checks - Tracking and recovery of overpayments Strong Excel skills, the ability to problem solve, and think critically are important for success in this role. A large majority of this role is spent utilizing the phone to complete necessary job expectations. What you will do - Process stop payment and void transactions within the claims system and the banking platform through referrals from both the Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability claim teams. - Handle calculation and processing of overpayments or underpayments. - Prepare communication related to overpayments or underpayments and document the claim system appropriately. - Assist in recovery of overpayment amounts and referrals to overpayment vendors. - Work closely with internal partners that may be impacted such as tax, reporting, claims, etc. - Monitor daily folders for Electronic Funding Transaction (EFT) changes and failures. - Communicate issues via the claims system and refer updates of incorrect EFT information to the claim teams. - Assist in research of outstanding checks that reach a dormant period of six months. - Determine if the payment is still due the payee and follow the defined process of voiding a payment or sending correspondence notification of the dormant check. Qualifications - Associate Degree or equivalent work experience preferred. - 1-2 years of disability claim or financial training/experience preferred. - Strength with MS Office, specifically MS Excel. - Familiarity with disability claim management concepts is helpful but not required. - Strong organizational and customer service skills. - The ability to work in a team environment while adapting and supporting change. - Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and recognize issues. - Ability to work with defined deadlines and practices. - High school diploma required.
