This role will be a technical specialist position, offering the opportunity to perform in-depth analysis to unlock deeper insights and perform work beyond core reserving responsibilities. The remit of the role will also include leading project work across a wide array of portfolios under the B&C umbrella, which include Property, Casualty or Liability, Specialty and Lenders Mortgage Insurance. Your new role This role combines core reserving responsibility with broader actuarial advisory and project work across QBE's Business & Consumer portfolio, helping drive stronger insights, better decision-making and portfolio performance as we truly live our vision "Actuarial insights into Strategic Value". You will: - Deliver key components of the quarterly reserving process for specialty products, ensuring robust analysis, consistency and alignment to agreed standards - Build strong relationships with stakeholders and communicate clear, well-structured insights to both senior and non-technical audiences - Provide actuarial advice to support the business, including analysis of large commercial accounts, renewals and input into commercial terms such as profit-sharing arrangements - Enhance segmentation across policyholder and claims dimensions, strengthen reserving assumptions, contribute actuarial input into pricing for large commercial accounts and develop claims initiative measurement and tracking - Support strategic projects across one or more B&C products, including portfolio transactions, scenario modelling and participation in cross-functional working groups - Contribute to improving end-to-end understanding of portfolio performance across B&C products by bringing insights from pricing, capital, reinsurance and broader AUSPAC strategy, while coaching and upskilling broader team on technical capabilities. About You To be successful in the role you will have: - Qualified actuary, or close to qualification, with strong general insurance reserving experience across property and casualty classes - Deep technical capability, with the ability to apply sound actuarial judgement to complex problems - Exposure to pricing, reserving or portfolio analytics within commercial lines is highly regarded - Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis into clear business insights - Proactive, commercially minded and driven to improve outcomes through continuous improvement - Experience using actuarial and data tools such as R, Python, SAS or similar, with an innovative and creative mindset Benefits We offer a range of benefits to help provide holistic support for your work life, whatever your circumstances. Role Description The Reserving Actuarial Analyst evaluates and monitors loss reserves across multiple lines of business to ensure accurate, reliable financial results. This role partners closely with finance, claims, engineering, and underwriting teams to translate emerging loss trends into actionable insights that guide strategic decision-making. Responsibilities - Perform quarterly reserve analyses and profit share analyses using standard actuarial methodologies to support accurate booked reserves and financial reporting. - Extract, transform, and analyze large datasets to build and maintain reserving exhibits, reserve triangles, and monitoring dashboards. - Partner with Claims, Finance, Underwriting, and other teams to understand loss drivers, identify emerging trends, and assess their impact on reserves. - Assist in refining reserving methodologies, assumptions, and governance processes to strengthen consistency, transparency, and control. - Prepare clear actuarial reports and presentations for senior management, regulators, and external stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations. - Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives that make reserving analyses more efficient, repeatable, and scalable.
