Figure
• Take full accountability for month-end close across loan accounting, this means owning the outcome, not just overseeing the process. • Prepare and deliver clear and concise reporting on close status, open items and risk areas to the Controller, escalating issues proactively with recommended solutions. • Oversee accounting for loan origination, servicing, and sales with meticulous attention to accuracy and completeness. • Accountable for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial statements, ensure all loan positions are well supported and audit ready documentation at every close. • Design accounting frameworks and policies that are built to scale, anticipating the needs of a growing business, not just solving for today. • Partner with Technical Accounting to establish and maintain policies and controls that hold up under audit and regulatory scrutiny. • Support new product launches by thinking through the full accounting lifecycle from day one, so that downstream processes are clean and defensible from the start. • Identify risks and opportunities in our accounting infrastructure before they become problems, and develop a roadmap to address them. • Serve as the primary accounting liaison to Product and Engineering on new product launches, evaluating accounting implications from inception and ensuring loan product flows are accurately reflected in the ledger from day one. • Manage and grow a high-performing accounting team, setting clear expectations and holding people accountable with both directness and care. • Leverage large, complex data sets to investigate and resolve reconciliation variances, driving root cause analysis and implementing long term solutions. • Work with the Director of Internal Controls on design, documentation, and ongoing monitoring of SOX controls across loan accounting processes to ensure control effectiveness and audit readiness.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a people management role - ideally in fintech, loan accounting, or a high-growth environment.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP financial reporting, loan accounting, and reconciliation management at scale.
- Demonstrated experience designing and improving accounting systems and workflows, not just operating within them.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to work through large data sets to resolve complex reconciliation variances.
- Exposure to digital assets, crypto, or blockchain-based systems preferred but not required.
- Experience with SOX compliance, including maintaining controls in a public company or pre-IPO environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of reporting financial status and risk clearly to Controllers, CFO or equivalent management.
- Experience Collaborating directly with Product and Engineering teams, with the ability to translate accounting requirements into system and operational design.
