Role Description All partner relations within a particular category are the responsibility of the Director – Supply Chain. The Director is responsible for the financial performance of a particular product category. Profitability will be measured on several components including: - Field sales margin - Vendor rebates - Vendor payment terms - Vendor marketing contributions (e.g., promotion allowances, sample allowances) In addition, the Director will monitor the performance of vendors and products within a category and review potential product additions to improve the category’s performance. The Director works closely with the Replenishment Team to ensure efficient delivery and proper inventory levels of the products in the category and collaborates with Marketing to create support materials for sales. Strong ethics and negotiation skills are required for this role. Sales or supplier management experience in the category is necessary to understand field sales needs. The right candidate possesses professional presence and communication skills and is collaborative, analytical, detail-oriented, and service-minded. This individual represents Heritage to a large section of our vendor community. Qualifications - Strong negotiation skills - Professional image, presentation, and communication skills - Strong analytics skills including use of reporting suites - Adherence to high ethical standards - Product and industry knowledge highly desirable - Understanding of international logistics is highly desirable - Understanding of import duties highly desirable Requirements - Develop and manage relationships with existing and potential vendors. - Conduct annual strategic partner evaluations to determine rationalization of vendors and SKUs. - Negotiate financial components including price, rebate, payment terms, prepaid freight, and marketing allowances with vendors. - Participate in providing market data and insights to assist the centralized pricing team. - Involved in the development of marketing materials such as catalogs and sales sheets. - Provide product and sales training to the field sales staff. - Review sales, margin, and gross profit dollars on a weekly basis. - Set up multiple sources of supply to ensure availability. - Understand global supply and raw material impact on pricing trends.
