Field Service Engineer II

• Complete installations, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on assigned instruments to ensure optimal performance and compliance with quality standards. • Diagnose technical problems across multiple complex instruments, document resolutions accurately, and close service calls within defined timelines. • Manage customer issues from start to resolution or escalation, deliver superior service, and build strong relationships through proactive communication. • Plan and prioritize service visits, maintain accurate inventory, and support on-call rotation, after-hour coverage, and travel for training or critical account support. • Follow all regulatory, quality system, and laboratory safety guidelines during service activities; maintain accurate documentation for audits. • Partner with cross-functional teams to meet business goals and provide guidance to other Field Service Representatives to strengthen team capability. • Meet targets for service sales, cost of service, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for assigned accounts. • Utilize remote support tools to maximize instrument uptime and maintain certifications through ongoing training and development.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Engineering or Laboratory Technology.
  • Ability to travel 50% within the assigned territory.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in team environments.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet) and remote computing tools (VPN, remote troubleshooting).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

As a Life Sciences Equipment Service Technician at STERIS, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment used in pharmaceutical, medical device, and research facilities, as well as providing installation support on complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units. This is a remote-based, customer-facing position. This territory will cover the greater Quebec City region. This is a safety-sensitive position. What you will do as an Equipment Service Technician - Perform fundamental troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components. - Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs and schedules autonomously to complete PM performance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and other duties. - Work with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management) to escalate issues appropriately and utilize advanced technology platforms to complete compliance regulatory requirements, and resolve and document troubleshooting issues. - Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options.
