Wealthsimple
• Design and build fraud detection systems that protect clients and Wealthsimple from bad actors • Own the client-facing experience for accounts affected by fraud restrictions • Build and improve internal tooling that helps our operations team investigate and resolve fraud cases efficiently • Develop risk-based product features that reflect a client's actual risk profile • Contribute to systems and processes that keep Wealthsimple compliant with anti-money laundering (AML) regulatory requirements • Work closely with product, design, and operations partners to translate complex risk logic into simple experiences
Job Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in a consumer-facing product environment
- Strong backend engineering skills, with a track record of building reliable, scalable systems
- Experience working on fraud detection, financial risk, or other high-stakes technical domains
- Comfort across the stack; experience with Ruby on Rails or Kotlin is a strong asset
- Strong software quality practices: you write testable code, take production ownership seriously, and raise the bar in code review
- Clear communicator who can work effectively with non-engineering partners across operations, compliance, and product
- AI-first mindset; you leverage AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and solve problems more effectively

Role Description As a Senior Specialty Underwriter, you will play a key role in underwriting new business and renewals across all Business Units, with a strong focus on U.S. Automotive Specialty business and cross‑border global quotations. You will bring deep U.S. market expertise, collaborate closely with Sales and underwriting leadership, and help drive profitable growth across the portfolio. This role plays a critical part in growing Allianz Warranty U.S. automotive specialty business, offering the opportunity to help shape a strategically important and expanding market. This is a fully remote, U.S.-based role.
