Title: Accounts Payable Accountant Job Description: Staff Accountant Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid) Compensation: $30-$33/hour (targeting ~$69,500 annually) LHH is seeking a Staff Accountant for an exciting opportunity with a respected organization in the Indianapolis area. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys owning accounts payable processes while also contributing to broader financial operations and continuous improvement initiatives. The position offers a hybrid work environment and the opportunity to play a key role in modernizing accounting workflows. Responsibilities - Manage full-cycle accounts payable including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payments - Perform two- and three-way matching across invoices, purchase orders, and receipts - Investigate and resolve discrepancies, vendor inquiries, and payment issues - Reconcile company credit card transactions and ensure accurate documentation - Support month-end and year-end close activities including accruals and prepaid expenses - Prepare account reconciliations and supporting workpapers for general ledger accounts - Assist with 1099 reporting including vendor validation and filing support - Contribute to process improvements and digital transformation of AP workflows - Support audits by providing documentation and explanations for transactions and controls - Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and data validation projects Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business preferred - 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting - Experience with journal entries and account reconciliations - Strong understanding of AP processes, internal controls, and expense management - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (advanced skills preferred) - Experience supporting system implementations or process improvements is a plus - Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities - Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams - Knowledge of 1099 reporting requirements preferred About the Company Our client is a well-established, mission-driven organization known for fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
