DevOps and Release Engineer

Jeppesen ForeFlight Careers

Role Description The DevOps and Release Engineer is a high-impact role that blends release management governance with hands-on DevOps engineering—functions that are typically split across two separate positions. This individual is the single point of accountability for the integrity of Jeppesen ForeFlight's Salesforce deployment pipeline, ensuring that every change moving to production is controlled, traceable, and compliant with release governance standards. This role operates at the intersection of the US-based Project Management, Platform Advisory Board (PAB), Business Admins, and the development team. It requires daily participation to support deployments, rapid hotfix response, and production stability. Key Responsibilities - Release Management: - Own and enforce the end-to-end Salesforce release process, from change intake to production deployment. - Maintain release calendar, coordinate release windows with the PAB, and communicate deployment schedules to stakeholders. - Define and govern release gates, approval workflows, and change freeze policies. - Facilitate go/no-go decisions with the US PM and Business Admins prior to each production push. - Maintain deployment runbooks, rollback procedures, and post-deployment validation checklists. - Track release metrics and produce deployment health reports for leadership. - DevOps Engineering: - Administer and continuously optimize the Copado DevOps platform across all Salesforce environments (Dev, SIT, UAT, Production). - Build, maintain, and troubleshoot deployment pipelines, branch strategies, and environment configurations in Copado. - Manage user stories, branches, and snapshots within the Copado pipeline in coordination with the development team. - Automate quality gates, static code analysis, and test execution as part of CI/CD workflows. - Support and configure Copado Robotic Testing (CRT) and integration with Salesforce testing frameworks. Qualifications - 7+ years of Salesforce DevOps or release management experience. - Hands-on Copado administration and pipeline development experience (Copado Developer or Admin certification strongly preferred). - Demonstrated experience managing multi-environment Salesforce deployments (Dev → SIT → UAT → Production). - Proficiency with Salesforce DX (SFDX), metadata API, and version control (Git). - Experience running release processes in an Agile/Scrum delivery model. - Strong communication and coordination skills with US-based stakeholders during overlap hours. - Ability to respond to and resolve production incidents with urgency and precision. Preferred Qualifications - Salesforce Administrator or Platform App Builder certification. - Experience with MuleSoft, AWS integrations, or Salesforce Flow automation in release contexts. - Familiarity with ITSM tools (Jira, ServiceNow, or equivalent) for change management workflows. - Background in aviation, defense, or aerospace software environments. Benefits - Medical, dental, vision insurance with Employer paid health premiums. - Open PTO Policy. - 401(k) with up to 10% company matching and immediate vesting. - 12 Weeks Paid Maternity Leave. - 12 Weeks Paid Paternity Leave. - Flight Training Rewards. - Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well market and business considerations: Summary Pay Range: $147,000-$170,000.
