The Impact of a Sr. Technical Program Manager at Coupa: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our dynamic P&T Operations team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in driving successful product releases, supporting and enhancing our internal program management tools, and championing the adoption of best-in-class PMO practices across our Product and Engineering organizations. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our delivery processes and contribute to our continued growth and innovation. What You'll Do: - Release Management Expertise: Lead and manage the end-to-end release lifecycle for our software products, including meticulous planning, cross-functional coordination, proactive risk management, transparent communication, comprehensive tracking and reporting of release progress, and ensuring formal sign-off at key milestones. - AI Integration & Strategic Innovation: "Combines a strong understanding of how Artificial Intelligence is shaping the software development landscape with hands-on proficiency in AI-assisted development and productivity tools (e.g., Sentinel, Cursor, GitHub Co-Pilot). Proactively identifies opportunities to leverage LLM-based tools and AI-driven methodologies within program management to accelerate delivery, automate routine tasks, and drive operational efficiency. - PMO Practice Implementation and Enforcement: Drive the adoption and consistent application of PMO methodologies, standards, and best practices across Product and Engineering teams. This includes defining processes, creating templates, providing training, and ensuring adherence. - Exceptional Proficiency in Google Sheets and Jira for Program Management: Demonstrate a very strong working knowledge of Google Sheets, utilizing advanced formulas, data manipulation, pivot tables, charting, and ideally Google Apps Script for automation and custom solutions. Possess a deep understanding of Jira for issue tracking, project planning, and the ability to effectively integrate Google Sheets with Jira data for insightful reporting and analysis. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effectively collaborate and communicate with Product Management, Engineering, QA, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on program goals, timelines, and dependencies. - Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program risks and issues, escalating as necessary and driving timely resolution. - Reporting and Communication: Develop and maintain clear and concise program status reports, dashboards, and presentations for various audiences, including senior leadership. - Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within release management and PMO practices and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. What You Will Bring to Coupa: - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field. - 10+ years of experience in a software development environment, including 6+ years as a Technical Program Manager (TPM). - Deep understanding of modern Software Development Life Cycles (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and experience leading large-scale Agile programs; relevant Agile certifications are a plus. - Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional, high-ambiguity technical programs from roadmap definition through execution and delivery. - Strong technical fluency in programs like Fedramp, AI Agentic workflows and platform engineering concepts, with the ability to engage in technical discussions and challenge engineering teams effectively. - Hands-on experience with coding or scripting (JavaScript, Google Apps Script, or similar languages). - Advanced experience configuring and administering tools such as Jira, Confluence, Excel, MS Project, and Tableau to drive program visibility and operational efficiency. - Demonstrated ability to influence and align stakeholders across all levels, from engineering teams to executive leadership. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach and a bias for action. - Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and execution levels — shaping roadmaps while also unblocking day-to-day delivery challenges. - Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships. - Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives with heavy cross-team dependencies and competing priorities. - Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and service mindset.
