Role Description Lydecker is seeking an associate attorney with 3-10+ years of experience for its New York, Jersey City, or Doylestown PA offices. The applicant should be admitted to practice in NY, NJ, or PA. Dual admission is a plus. The firm provides extensive training to its new associates. Under the supervision of a partner, the associate will be handling a variety of cases, including the defense of casualty, professional liability, and employment matters. Qualifications - PA, NJ, or NY bar license in good standing. - Minimum of JD from an ABA approved law school. - 3-10+ years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in General liability, Labor and employment, property and casualty or any insurance defense litigation. - Previous experience should include working on up to 25+ cases at once, attending and defending depositions, taking depositions, appearance in court, motion and discovery drafting; mediation and trial experience a plus but not required. - Basic knowledge of computer operation, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software; the use of Microsoft products is preferred. - Self-motivated and a self-starter, work well independently, and possess strong client communication skills. - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; participates in meetings when required. - Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information. - Ability to work with little supervision; prioritizes and anticipates work needs; works well under occasional periods of pressure and short deadlines. - Keeps client and firm information confidential at all times; understands and implements general rules of ethical behavior applicable to lawyers. Role Description We are seeking a highly engaged and motivated Associate Workers Compensation Attorney to join our legal team. This role involves managing the full litigation process from investigation through trial, representing clients in a wide range of proceedings and providing strategic legal guidance. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, a skilled negotiator, and a trusted partner to clients and colleagues alike. The Associate Attorney is a remote position, but candidate must live within commutable distance to New Jersey for occasional in-office meetings. Key Responsibilities for Associate Litigation Attorney - Manage the litigation process from investigation and discovery through trial preparation and court proceedings. - Represent clients in depositions, site inspections, hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations. - Research and analyze applicable laws to develop effective legal strategies and communicate findings to claims representatives and insured clients. - Draft and present clear, well-reasoned legal opinions, pleadings, motions, and other documents. - Build and maintain strong professional relationships with claims representatives, insured clients, and internal departments. - Conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other business units as needed. - Track and record billable hours accurately and efficiently. - Independently manage a caseload with little to no supervision.
