Technical Game Designer
Nimble Giant Entertainment
• Design, prototype, and implement gameplay systems and mechanics using Unreal Engine, primarily through Blueprints. • Act as a technical bridge between Game Design and Engineering, ensuring feasibility, scalability, and clarity of implementation. • Create and maintain reusable gameplay setups, tools, and systems to support designers and content creators. • Collaborate closely with Engineering to align gameplay systems with technical requirements and production constraints. • Support the iteration and optimization of gameplay features in collaboration with Engineering. • Debug and iterate on gameplay systems throughout all stages of development. • Support designers by improving workflows, documentation, and tooling within Unreal. • Work closely with QA to identify, reproduce, and resolve gameplay-related issues. • Contribute to task estimation, risk assessment, and planning in collaboration with Leads and Production. • Maintain clear documentation of systems, workflows, and implementation guidelines. • Stay up to date with Unreal Engine features, industry trends, and emerging best practices in game design and technical implementation.
Job Requirements
- Professional experience as a Technical Designer, Gameplay Designer, or similar hybrid role in the video game industry.
- Strong hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, especially Blueprints and gameplay implementation workflows.
- Solid understanding of gameplay systems, player interaction, game feel, and systemic design.
- Ability to collaborate closely with engineers on technical implementation and gameplay systems.
- Experience developing and optimizing gameplay features for multiple platforms (PC, consoles, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to break down complex systems into clear, actionable solutions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Designers, Engineers, Artists, QA, and Production.
- Familiarity with debugging and gameplay iteration workflows in Unreal.
- Experience working across multiple development stages, from pre-production to release.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document and explain technical systems clearly.
- Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken) – mandatory.
