Project Overview: Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets. The M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world. Job Summary: In this role, you will lead a team and interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the engineering technical aspects for complex projects. You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget. "This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership" Major Responsibilities: - Responsible for multiple small complex projects or designated large sized highly complex engineering assignments (program) within a global business unit - Possesses full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments - Participates in project planning prior to proposals to provide technical guidance in the engineering and construction review of proposals - Provides input to and owns the engineering elements of a project capital estimate (proposals and execution) quantities and budgets - Reviews major changes or deviations in project scope, project material quantities, budget or schedule, and assists particularly with defining the change, obtaining accurate estimates of the hours involved, and recommending budget adjustment - Ensures engineering efforts with Project Manager, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) and Project Controls - Directs the preparation of project studies, reports, forecasts, special engineering reports and plant data book Education and Experience Requirements: - Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills: - Proven track record in successfully overseeing studies and projects from concept through to project execution and delivery, and post commissioning. - Deep knowledge in the commodities of interest, including understanding market drivers for project investment, operations work design, and systems maintenance. - Academic and industry skills required to engage customers in meaningful dialogue covering all technical disciplines e.g., electro-chemistry, digestion. - Technical and systems applications expertise combined with a working knowledge and experience in Bechtel execution models, work processes, and procedures. - Leadership that has a track record of attracting, growing, and retaining specialists that are diverse in their experience, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities. - A leader that will encourage their team to innovate, invent, and challenge the norms. - A leader that will earn the trust from reports, peers, management and most importantly, customers. - An accomplished communicator in written, oral, and spatial mediums to effectively convey complex ideas through precise language, engaging verbal presentations, and visuals.
