Role Description We’re seeking a versatile, detail-oriented Content Writer to support internal and external communications for our Defense Tech business. This role is responsible for developing compelling, accurate, and strategically aligned content that strengthens our reputation as an innovative and trusted partner across the national security, defense technology, mission-critical engineering, and government sectors. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller with proven experience writing for diverse audiences—including employees, customers, industry partners, and public stakeholders. This role collaborates closely with Communications, Business Development, Engineering, HR, and Program teams to create clear narratives, elevate key initiatives, and ensure message consistency across all channels. Responsibilities - Content Development (Internal & External) - Create high-quality written materials such as press releases, articles, internal announcements, leadership messages, web content, thought leadership pieces, case studies, and marketing collateral. - Strategic Messaging Support - Translate complex technical and defense-focused subjects into accessible, engaging content tailored to specific audiences (government, defense customers, partners, employees, media, etc.). - Internal Communications - Support company-wide messaging by drafting employee stories, HR/People initiatives, intranet content, culture-building pieces, leadership communications, and announcements that strengthen understanding, alignment, and engagement. - External Communications - Develop materials that elevate our reputation in the defense technology ecosystem, including announcements tied to major contracts, product milestones, partnerships, and national security impact. - Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work with Business Development, Program Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Executive teams to ensure messaging accuracy, clarity, compliance, and alignment with organizational priorities. - Editorial Support & Review - Serve as a writing and editing resource for organizational stakeholders, ensuring all communications are on-brand, technically accurate, and consistent with corporate voice and style. - Stakeholder & Industry Alignment - Support opportunities to highlight our role within the broader defense tech community through events, industry groups, and customer engagement initiatives. - Content Management & Organization - Track deadlines across multiple projects in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. - Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or related field - 5-7+ years of professional writing experience, ideally supporting technology, defense, engineering, or government-focused organizations - Strong writing, editing, and storytelling capabilities with the ability to adapt tone and style for technical, policy, and general audiences - Experience developing both internal and external communications that align with organizational priorities - Ability to translate technical subject matter into clear, compelling narratives - Highly organized, self-starting, and able to manage multiple assignments with limited oversight - Strong collaboration skills and comfort interfacing with subject matter experts - Familiarity with communications best practices, editorial standards, and corporate voice Preferred Qualifications - Content development experience in defense, national security, engineering, or related technology sectors - Experience supporting communications within government contracting or regulated environments - Understanding of defense industry stakeholder dynamics, customer missions, and communication sensitivities - Experience developing integrated content across channels—digital, web, internal platforms, media relations, events, and executive communications Benefits - Matching 401(k) - Paid PTO - Paid holidays - Medical, vision, and dental insurance - Group Short-Term & Long-Term Disability - HSA and FSA Options - Critical Care Plan - Accident Care Plan Clearance Requirements This position may require access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
