Key Responsibilities - Advise HR and management on a broad range of employment law matters including hiring, performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, separations, and reductions in force - Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, offer letters, separation and severance agreements, NDAs, and independent contractor agreements - Develop, update, and implement employment policies, handbooks, and compliance and training programs to ensure legal compliance and best practices - Manage and oversee employment-related litigation, arbitration, and agency charges (EEOC, NLRB, state agencies), including coordination with outside counsel - Lead internal investigations into employee complaints, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and workplace misconduct - Monitor and advise on federal, state, and local employment law developments and assess impact on company practices across multiple jurisdictions - Partner with People Operations on compensation, benefits, and equity plan matters, ensuring compliance with applicable wage and hour laws - Support M&A due diligence and integration activities from an employment law perspective - Provide training and guidance to HR business partners and managers on employment law topics and risk mitigation strategies - Contribute to the broader Legal team on cross-functional projects and company-wide initiatives Qualifications Required - Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing - 8+ years of employment law experience, with significant in-house counsel experience or a combination of law firm and in-house roles - Deep expertise in federal and state employment laws (Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, and state equivalents) - Demonstrated experience managing employment litigation and agency proceedings - Experience conducting and overseeing workplace investigations - Strong drafting and negotiation skills across a variety of employment-related agreements - Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and provide clear, actionable guidance in a dynamic environment - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization Preferred - Experience in the technology, financial services, or SaaS industry - Familiarity with employment law considerations in international jurisdictions (UK, India, EU, Hong Kong) - Experience supporting M&A transactions from an employment law perspective - Background advising on equity compensation and executive employment arrangements Boise, ID: $100,000 – $140,000 Washington, DC: $120,000 – $168,000 This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting.
