Role Description Our firm is seeking a Contract Attorney to support our Oregon‑based legal matters on a project‑by‑project basis. This role is ideal for an attorney who is self‑directed, highly organized, and experienced in civil defense litigation. Workload will vary depending on case needs, and assignments may involve collaboration with attorneys across multiple practice groups, including Labor & Employment, General Liability, and Mass Tort. This is a flexible, contract‑based position with opportunities for recurring work based on performance and firm needs. Qualifications - Active Oregon Bar license in good standing - Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school - 4+ years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in Labor and Employment (EPLI), General Liability, Mass Tort / Toxic Tort, Construction Defect, or any Insurance Defense related practice area - Experience managing a litigation caseload including taking and defending depositions, court appearances, and drafting motions and discovery - Mediation and trial preparation (trial experience a plus) - Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and standard legal software - Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues - Strong oral and written communication skills, including clear drafting and effective advocacy - Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical obligations Requirements - Draft, review, and respond to complaints, motions, and written discovery - Prepare for and attend depositions - Assist with mediation preparation and trial‑related tasks - Attend hearings and client meetings as needed - Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda - Track time and bill in accordance with firm guidelines - Perform additional litigation support tasks as assigned Benefits - Contract / project‑based role - Compensation commensurate with experience
