Role Description The Designer reports to the Design Manager and can be located in any of the following cities: Cleveland or Columbus OH, Pittsburgh, PA, Lenexa, KS, Omaha, NE, Bedford Park/Chicago, IL. This is a Full-Time remote position, but the candidate must be located in one of the listed locations. As a Designer in the construction and foodservice industry, your role represents an advanced and pivotal position within our team. Building upon your experiences as an Associate Designer, you now take on a substantial leadership role in driving the success of our commercial kitchen design projects. Your deep expertise and contributions to the creation of draft layouts, production drawings, and presentation materials, coupled with your extensive experience in client engagement, are invaluable assets to our team's growth and our projects' outcomes. Essential Functions & Responsibilities - Interact with customers to identify commercial foodservice equipment needs and promote the benefits of Trimark’s various design services. - Perform site visits to survey existing conditions, gather project information, or identify equipment needs. - Determine size, scope, and budget of a project through effective communication with customers. Offer equipment recommendations based on industry knowledge. - Work independently to create commercial foodservice equipment designs that utilize available floor space and meet the customer’s operational and budgetary requirements. - Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit to coordinate with design team members. - Have sound technical understanding of plumbing and electrical systems and be able to identify and locate utility services and building conditions required for proper installation of foodservice equipment. - Produce construction document sets and collaborate with architects and engineers for integration of foodservice equipment designs and utility rough-in drawings into overall project. - Produce foodservice equipment elevations and incorporate appropriate construction details. - Proactively communicate and manage lead times to ensure project needs are met timely. - Identify and produce complete scope of work for project, including trade responsibilities, installation requirements, and manufacturer specifications with selected accessories. - Effectively communicate with foodservice equipment manufacturers to drive the development of shop drawings for custom or modified equipment related to a design. - Prepare itemized foodservice equipment budgets. - Review and approve submittal packages provided by kitchen equipment contractor to ensure adherence to design intent. - Be an industry leader in advancing the latest design technology and industry innovations. - Respond to requests for information (RFI’s) timely. - Conduct site visits and generate a punch list during project installation. - Conduct oneself in a professional manner that fosters positive relations with customers, vendors, and internal company personnel. - Grow design revenue annually. - Participate in department meetings and vendor training sessions. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related discipline. - 5+ years’ experience designing in the foodservice industry. - Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit. - Must complete CFSP Test within first 3 years of employment. - Experienced in various market segments of design. - Extensive knowledge of BIM practices, standards and techniques. - Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office products & AutoQuotes. - Basic working knowledge of general construction, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
