Job Description
Senior Data Engineering Manager
Arco Educação
• Define the company's data vision: lead how Arco uses data to decide, operate, and grow. • Make platform decisions when relevant, without being tied to a specific tool. • Connect data to business decisions: act as a bridge between the data function and leaders in Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Product. • Lead an organization at scale: manage a structure of approximately 43 professionals through seven direct managers. • Democratize data through AI: drive an explicit agenda to enable business units’ autonomy with AI tools. • Operate the function as a product: establish quarterly OKRs and health metrics. • Raise the team's technical and analytical bar: participate in final interviews and decide on training investments. • Prepare for scope expansion: build, together with company leadership, the vision and structure to incorporate Data Science, Data Analytics, and Business Analytics.
Job Requirements
- Proven deep technical expertise in data: a track record designing and operating analytical solutions at scale, with informed opinions on dimensional modeling, advanced SQL, modern data transformation, cloud analytics platforms, and orchestration architectures.
- Strong business acumen: proven ability to translate commercial, financial, and operational context into relevant analytical questions, with critical reading of metrics, contribution margin, unit economics, and strategic trade-offs.
- Background in advanced analytics: experience applying or supervising statistical and modeling techniques beyond descriptive reporting, including experimentation and A/B testing, causal analysis, predictive modeling, and segmentation.
- Platform and democratization mindset: knowledge of how mature data functions evolve — data contracts, semantic layers, observability, self-service, governance, and AI tools that expand autonomy.
- Experience leading teams at scale: prior experience managing technical and analytical teams of significant size, with direct responsibility for performance, senior hiring, and career development.
- Executive communication in two languages: structured written communication in Portuguese and English.
- Experience in complex environments: experience in organizations with multiple lines of business or broad technical domains, frequently making prioritization decisions among competing demands.
