Technical Sales Manager

Role Description As the Technical Sales Manager for the Pacific Northwest region of the United States covering Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah, this role will require an entrepreneurial mindset and will be responsible for building and growing the sales of the crop nutrition portfolio including granular, water-soluble, controlled release, and liquid fertilizers. This will include customer relationship management from the distributor to retailer and grower level and a broad portfolio of ICL products. This role will work closely with product portfolio managers, agronomy, marketing, and sales operations to ensure positive customer experience and the highest level of commercial excellence. This role is a home-based position. Location: This position supports territories across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah and requires regular travel. When not traveling, the role will be performed remotely from a home office, with a preference for candidates located in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho. I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position? - Achieve/exceed territory sales budgets across the ICL product portfolio - Build relationships with existing retail and distribution clients within the territory - Expand relationships with new distributors, retailers, growers - Develop a sales growth plan for market expansion within the territory - Provide technical support to customers on the use of granular, liquid, water-soluble, and controlled-release fertilizers used in Agriculture - Develop and execute the sales and marketing strategy derived from the business plan including responsible management of company budgets - Provide market insight into competitor activity - Produce sales forecasts on an annual basis and monthly updates to support the ongoing S&OP process - Represent the organization at trade shows, events, and demonstrations - Fully utilize SalesForce for recording customer interactions and review SAP dashboard reports to manage the territory Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related field preferred with coursework in plant science, soil science, plant health, and plant nutrition preferred - Must reside within the assigned territory - A minimum of three years of experience and demonstrated success with agricultural sales - Existing distributor, retail, and/or large grower connections within the geography - Experience developing complete nutrient management programs following Good Agronomic Practices (GAP) - Analytical skills: the ability to read and understand nutritional values relating to soil, water, and plant material - Must be able to manage personal goals, and corporate objectives and keep a customer-centric focus - Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentations - Computer skills to include: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Map Point - Must have excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills - Ability to work in an outdoor setting that may be cool, wet, hot, or dry and could require standing, walking, and lifting of up to 50lbs in cool, wet, hot, or dry conditions - Demonstrated ability to contribute and collaborate in a team environment - Enthusiastic problem solver with a can-do attitude - Travel Requirement: 60% Requirements - Strong sales background and proven performance in developing markets and growing products - Fertilizer (commodity/specialty) Industry experience - Ag retail experience - Customer relationships within the territory - Valid CCA license Benefits - Competitive base pay and performance bonus - Medical, dental, vision, and life benefits that start quickly – the first of the month after hire - Wellness Incentive Program to lower your health insurance cost - Inclusive benefits for growing families, covering fertility, adoption, and parental leave - Generous Leave and FMLA policies - Tax-advantaged health savings and spending accounts (when applicable) - Prescription program that provides most generic maintenance medications at no cost (including Insulin products) - 401k eligibility from day one of employment with a generous company matching contribution. 100% vested after one year of service - Crisis assistance available to support employees during unforeseen circumstances - Employee Assistance Program that includes comprehensive mental health support for you and your household family members - Student Loan Assistance - Business travel reward points are eligible for personal use - Paid time off to support volunteering and Employee Resource Group’s (ERG) participation - Free membership to a program that offers various discounts for travel, entertainment, groceries, and much more
