Title: Fraud and Risk Specialist Location New York, New York Employment Type Full time Department Operations Job Description: Fraud Specialist $65K – $75K • meaningful equity About Novig Novig is building America's #1 sports prediction market. Our mission is to financialize and democratize sports trading - taking a closed system run by casinos and turning it into a fair, efficient, two-sided market where the power sits with users. With CFTC approval on the horizon, we're poised to go live across all 50 states as the leading sports-focused, federally regulated market built on trust, transparency, and real user protection. We're backed by some of Silicon Valley's top investors — Pantera, Forerunner, Lux, NFX, Paul Graham, and Joe Montana — who have collectively invested over $100M behind this vision. About the Role This is an opportunity to help build out the fraud and risk function at one of the fastest-growing prediction markets in the country. You'll investigate multi-accounting, bonus abuse, and suspicious betting patterns — digging into the data, piecing together what's actually going on, and making the call on how to handle it. Every case sharpens the systems that keep the exchange fair and protect real users. This is perfect for someone who likes investigative work, trusts their judgment under pressure, and wants ownership over a function that's still being built. You're the person we turn to when something looks off and needs a clear-eyed person to figure out why. Who you are and what you will do - You’re naturally curious. When something looks off, your instinct is to dig into the data, connect the dots, and uncover what others might miss. - You enjoy investigative work. Whether it’s spotting multi-accounting schemes, bonus abuse, or suspicious betting patterns, you like unraveling complex user behaviors. - You’re detail-oriented and analytical. You’re comfortable working with data, internal tools, and admin systems to identify risk and build clear, evidence-backed cases. - You’re decisive under pressure. You can make thoughtful judgment calls when the stakes are high and move quickly in a fast-paced environment. - You care about marketplace integrity. Protecting users and ensuring a fair, trustworthy exchange genuinely motivates you. - You’re excited to help build something new. The opportunity to strengthen Novig’s fraud and risk systems—and stay one step ahead of bad actors as the exchange scales—is energizing. - You have 1–3 years of experience in fraud operations, trust & safety, risk, or a similar investigative role. - You have experience in fintech, gaming, marketplaces, or high-volume e-commerce (strongly preferred). - You are comfortable working with data and internal tooling, and ideally familiarity with SQL or analytics tools like Looker or Tableau. - You have a strong investigative mindset and the ability to identify subtle patterns or anomalies in user behavior. - You possess clear communication skills, especially when explaining why an account or activity is suspicious to non-technical teammates. Why work here, in the words of the people who do “I work with extremely stellar people, I own real systems, and decisions happen fast. No politics, no waiting for needless red tape. If something's broken, I fix it. If I build something good, it ships.” “The people! They're smart, thoughtful, fun to work with and passionate about their craft.” “I'm having the most fun I've had in my entire career.” If you want responsibility, trust, and the chance to help build the future of sports prediction markets - take your shot, we’d love to connect. Not for everyone - Our work and this role are tied to live sports - that means nights, weekends, and pressure included. - If you need clear swim lanes, a heavy process, or someone to tell you what to do, this won’t be the right environment. Compensation & benefits - $65K – $75K base, benchmarked at top-tier tech companies - Meaningful equity for every employee, regardless of role - 100% health premiums covered - 99% dental & vision covered - 401(k) with 4% company match - HSA + $1,080 annual company contribution - $27/day lunch stipend when working from our NYC office - $35/day dinner stipend when working from the NYC office after 6:30pm Homebase Union Square, NYC or Remote
