Role Description The Financial Times is looking for a copy editor to work at weekends as part of its US operation. The successful candidate will be a top-quality copy editor, charged with ensuring our journalism meets the FT’s high standards, as well as a savvy digital operator with a strong background in online content. The role is three days a week (Saturday, Sunday and Monday), 12pm to 8pm EST. The FT’s US hub is in New York City but we are open to applicants from elsewhere, subject to our ability to employ in the relevant US state or country. - An experienced copy editor who is a stickler for accurate, precise and clear content, with a flair for writing sharp digital headlines and other display copy. - Able to perform final edits of news stories and longer articles to consistently high standards under time pressure, with the confidence to raise queries with reporters and fellow editors. - Strong awareness of digital publishing concepts, including visual storytelling, audience engagement and metadata. - Familiar with social media platforms and comfortable editing eye-catching posts that adhere to the FT’s high standards.
