Workforce Manager – Oncology Documentation (Oncology Documentation Manager) Division: RCS Workforce Reports To: Senior Manager, Workforce Solutions Position Summary The Workforce Manager – Oncology Documentation is responsible for leading, supporting, and retaining a team of oncology documentation consultants assigned across multiple client accounts. This role ensures high-quality, compliant, and timely work product while maintaining strong client satisfaction and consultant engagement. Serving as a people leader, Subject Matter Expert (SME), and ambassador of RCS Core Values, the Workforce Manager oversees onboarding, performance management, workload distribution, compliance, and client communication across their book of business. This role partners closely with Recruiters, Account Managers, and Workforce Leadership to ensure operational excellence and scalable workforce solutions. Key Responsibilities Consultant Leadership & Workforce Management - Provide direct day-to-day management, scheduling, workload assignment, and performance oversight for oncology documentation consultants. - Lead onboarding and transition of new hires from recruiting to operations, ensuring a warm, organized, and effective experience. - Communicate client expectations, productivity standards, and quality requirements at the start of each assignment. - Manage consultant productivity, time entry, and adherence to project deadlines. - Deliver continuous coaching, guidance, and feedback to support consultant success, growth, and retention. - Identify educational needs, recommend training opportunities, and support professional development. Client Management & Delivery - Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication, issue resolution, and consistent delivery of high-quality work product. - Lead and participate in client meetings at an agreed-upon cadence. - Attend discovery calls with Account Managers to gather critical data elements that support successful onboarding and project execution. - Monitor workflow, productivity, and quality across all assigned client accounts. - Make operational and staffing decisions that impact the assigned book of business. - Escalate risks, challenges, and client concerns to Workforce Leadership as appropriate. Compliance, Quality & Expertise - Monitor and enforce compliance with RCS quality programs, regulatory requirements, and client-specific standards. - Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (internal and external) in oncology documentation and data standards. - Maintain all required certifications and continuing education units (CEUs). - Ensure consultants remain compliant with certification, quality, and documentation standards. Collaboration & Reporting - Maintain strong working relationships with Recruiters and Account Managers supporting shared consultants and clients. - Provide project status updates and reporting to RCS Leadership as requested. - Support staffing recommendations based on project volumes, timelines, and client goals. Performance Metrics & Scope - Lead and retain 70+ direct reports - Manage 5+ client accounts, including multiple projects per client - Ensure productivity, quality, and compliance benchmarks are consistently achieved - Maintain strong consultant engagement and low attrition Required Qualifications Education & Certification - Active Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification (NCRA-based required) - Minimum one professional certification from a national association applicable to oncology documentation - Ongoing maintenance of CEUs and certifications Experience - 5 years of management experience within oncology documentation or a related specialty - 3 years of remote workforce management experience - Experience working closely with acute care hospital systems - Proven ability to manage large, distributed teams and multiple concurrent client projects Skills & Competencies - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Demonstrated ability to handle conflict and deliver actionable resolution - Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities - High level of technical proficiency, including: - MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint - Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities - Commitment to client service excellence and operational integrity Preferred Qualifications - Associate Degree or higher - 5+ years of management experience, preferably leading remote oncology documentation teams - Basic understanding of: - Healthcare billing and accounting systems - Healthcare revenue cycle processes Work Environment and Culture - Work performed primarily in an office environment, consisting of light to moderate physical activity, including the use of a computer, telephone, and/or other office equipment. - Work remotely or on-site when required within the expected work hours and schedule, including meetings needed and on-time attendance. - All team members must adhere to AMN Healthcare’s mission statement, core values, company policies, and customer service standards. - This position is a communication tool, does not guarantee employment, and is not intended to be all-inclusive.
