Senior Accounting Technician

MNP

• Administer full cycle bookkeeping for MNP clients in a fast-paced environment • Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions • Prepare T4s, T5s and Records of Employment • Provide support and training to junior bookkeeping team members • Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process • Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities and intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads • Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with supervisor or engagement partner to develop resolutions • Monitor work in progress and file budgets; identify out of scope opportunities • Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments • Liaise with clients on administrative matters and provide functional advice to other team members • Work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationships with clients and team members

Job Requirements

  • Certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting is considered an asset
  • 3 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience
  • Experience working with cloud accounting software such as QBO or Xero is preferred
  • Experience preparing T4s and T5s
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes
  • Experience working with desktop software such as QuickBooks Desktop and Sage 50 is beneficial

Role Description The Accounting Manager – Transactional is responsible for leading high‑volume, day‑to‑day accounting operations with a strong focus on transactional accuracy, timeliness, and control. This role oversees core accounting processes including accounts payable, receivable activity, cash movements, reconciliations, and month‑end execution. The Accounting Manager ensures transactions flow correctly through the general ledger, payments are processed accurately, and financial records are complete, consistent, and audit‑ready. Key Responsibilities - Transactional Accounting Operations - Oversee daily accounting transactions, ensuring accurate GL posting, proper coding, and completeness across high‑volume activity. - Supervise accounts payable and related payment processes, including invoice review, approvals, postings, and disbursements. - Monitor receivable, settlement, and clearing activity to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in the appropriate accounting period. - Reconciliations & Controls - Own bank and cash account reconciliations for operating and trustee accounts; investigate and resolve variances promptly. - Review balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash, clearing, prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets. - Ensure transactional controls are consistently applied and exceptions are documented, investigated, and resolved. - Month‑End Close Execution - Lead transactional close activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortization, and reconciliations. - Prepare and review month‑end financial statements and supporting schedules for management review. - Ensure close timelines are met while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and control. - People Leadership & Workflow Management - Manage and review the work of accounting staff responsible for daily transactional processing. - Set clear expectations, prioritize workloads, and ensure transaction backlogs are avoided. - Coach and develop team members with a focus on accuracy, documentation standards, and adherence to procedures. - Process Improvement & Compliance - Identify inefficiencies or error trends in transactional workflows and implement improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. - Maintain and enforce accounting procedures related to transaction processing and reconciliations. - Support audits and internal reviews by providing detailed transactional support and documentation.
