Senior Global Trade Compliance Manager
Lime
• Design, implement, and continuously improve a global trade compliance program aligned with high-growth, multi-market operations • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations across key regions (e.g., EU, US, APAC), including customs, sanctions, and export controls • Classify micromobility products (e-scooters, e-bikes, IoT devices, spare parts, and lithium-ion batteries) using HS codes and determine duties and tariffs • Oversee compliance related to the international movement of lithium-ion batteries, including hazardous materials (dangerous goods) regulations (IATA, IMDG, ADR) • Manage export control processes, including licensing requirements for embedded software, GPS/IoT components, and encryption technologies • Lead restricted party screening processes across suppliers, logistics partners, and customers • Partner closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Hardware, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure compliant and efficient global distribution • Support market entry into new countries by assessing trade compliance requirements and regulatory barriers • Provide detailed analytics around business financial impacts for global duties and tariffs for financial planning and budgeting. • Manage Duty Drawback and Tariff refund processes. • Monitor global regulatory changes (e.g., sustainability rules, battery regulations, recycling directives) and advise on business impact • Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and post-entry reviews; implement corrective actions where needed • Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and relevant government authorities • Set scalable methods for classification, compliance workflows, and audit readiness across key markets • Influence cross-functional decisions by translating regulatory requirements into clear business trade-offs (e.g., cost, speed, risk) • Lead investigations and resolution of compliance issues, disclosures, or audits • Develop and deliver training programs for internal stakeholders across global teams.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 6–10+ years of experience in global trade compliance, ideally within hardware, mobility, automotive, or consumer electronics industries
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, export controls, and sanctions regimes across multiple jurisdictions
- Direct experience handling battery shipments and dangerous goods compliance strongly preferred
- Experience with HS classification, origin determination, and valuation methodologies
- Familiarity with trade compliance systems and ERP platforms
- Professional certifications (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker, CCS, or equivalent) are a plus
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth, and operationally complex environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
- High attention to detail with the ability to scale processes globally
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate regulations into actionable guidance
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a builder mentality, able to create scalable processes while staying close to day-to-day operations.
