Role Description WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Controls - Power Delivery. This position is posted in our Amarillo, TX office but the selected candidate may work remotely from a mutually acceptable location. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Project Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. The Project Controls provides support in the execution of cost, schedule, and progress control tasks on infrastructure and engineering projects by contributing to data collection, entry, analysis, and reporting activities. Assists with maintaining accurate and timely project information that supports the effective monitoring of budgets, timelines, and key performance indicators. Through collaboration with project teams, this role helps ensure control systems are consistently followed and project documentation is organized to meet reporting and compliance requirements. The position contributes to the foundational delivery of project control services that promote transparency, accountability, and well-informed decision-making. Your Impact - Assist in the collection and validation of project financial, schedule, and performance data from internal and external sources. - Support the setup and maintenance of project control logs, tracking tools, and dashboards to ensure accurate project status reporting. - Assist in updating and maintaining project budgets, forecasts, and committed cost logs using standardized templates and systems. - Prepare draft cost reports and schedule updates under the guidance of more senior project controls personnel. - Help monitor actual expenditures against budgets and prepare comparisons of cost-to-date versus planned spending. - Assist in maintaining current schedule data by inputting task progress, resource hours, and milestone updates into schedule management tools. - Participate in schedule reviews and assist with identifying early warnings for potential schedule delays. - Assist with the preparation of earned value reports and performance metrics that compare budgeted versus actual progress. - Help gather supporting documentation for change requests, contingency drawdowns, and budget reallocations. - Contribute to the development of risk registers and mitigation logs by assisting with data entry and updates. - Provide administrative support for meetings, including compiling agendas, tracking action items, and producing minutes. - Assist with the consolidation of project data for client reports, internal presentations, and status updates. - Help maintain document control logs and ensure project control files are up-to-date, accessible, and aligned with audit and compliance standards. - Perform clerical and coordination tasks associated with monthly invoice review cycles and cost reconciliation. - Coordinate with procurement, finance, and technical staff to ensure alignment across budget, contract, and schedule tracking. - Support the preparation of project closeout reports by compiling final data on cost performance, schedule variance, and risk outcomes. - Assist in monitoring key performance indicators and reporting project control insights to internal stakeholders. - Use Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools to organize and format cost and schedule data for analysis. - Comply with internal project controls standards, workflows, and quality management protocols. - Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. - Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, finance, or a related discipline. - 0 to 1 year of relevant post education experience in project controls or related areas. - Basic understanding of project phases and how scope, schedule, and cost interact to affect project outcomes. - Familiarity with the purpose and structure of baseline budgets, project schedules, and progress tracking reports. - Ability to understand and apply project control concepts such as budget tracking, forecasting, earned value, and change control. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to use formulas, pivot tables, and charts for data analysis and reporting. - Willingness to learn scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project and financial tools such as Deltek or Oracle. - Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in data entry and report formatting. - Ability to follow templates, procedures, and standardized workflows to ensure consistency across deliverables. - Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical and financial information clearly. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with professionals from multiple disciplines. - Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. - Curiosity and initiative in learning about project control methods and best practices. - Comfort handling sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and discretion. - Understanding of basic accounting concepts such as cost, revenue, variance, and cash flow. - Ability to analyze quantitative data and identify basic trends or discrepancies. - Organizational skills for maintaining digital and physical project control records. - Ability to support coordination between internal teams such as finance, project management, and procurement. - Willingness to ask questions and seek guidance when faced with uncertainty or ambiguity. - Commitment to upholding safety, ethics, and compliance standards in all work. - Capacity to adapt to new tools, processes, and software platforms as assigned.
