Job Description
Dynatrace SRE
CNX
Role Description We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with deep expertise in Dynatrace and enterprise observability to help mature and scale our monitoring capabilities across the environment. This role partners closely with engineering, infrastructure, and leadership teams to translate business and technical requirements into reliable, actionable observability solutions. The SRE will play a key role in platform ownership, dashboard development for executive visibility, infrastructure-as-code enablement, and consolidation of legacy monitoring tools. This position sits at the intersection of reliability engineering, monitoring strategy, and business outcomes. Key Responsibilities - Observability & Platform Engineering - Own and manage the Dynatrace observability platform, including configuration, governance, and ongoing optimization. - Design and implement end-to-end monitoring and observability across applications, infrastructure, cloud services, and platforms. - Expand coverage through best-practice instrumentation, alerting, and service-level indicators (SLIs/SLOs). - Support the consolidation and rationalization of disparate monitoring tools, reducing tool sprawl and improving operational clarity. - Dashboards & Executive Reporting - Translate business and leadership requirements into meaningful dashboards and views for executive review and decision-making. - Build role-based dashboards that serve engineering, operations, and leadership audiences. - Ensure observability data is actionable, reliable, and aligned to service health, availability, and business impact. - Infrastructure as Code & Cloud - Develop and manage Dynatrace configurations using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code best practices. - Support deployments and integration within Azure environments. - Partner with engineering and platform teams to embed observability into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native architectures. - Reliability & SRE Practices - Apply Site Reliability Engineering principles to improve system availability, performance, and resilience. - Support incident response, post-incident reviews, and continuous improvement efforts using observability insights. - Help define and mature reliability standards, alerting strategies, and operational best practices. - Stakeholder Partnership - Serve as a central intake point for monitoring and observability requests from leadership and technology teams. - Collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to align monitoring strategies with enterprise priorities. - Act as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor on observability and platform reliability. Qualifications - Strong hands-on experience with Dynatrace, including configuration, dashboards, alerts, and platform management. - Experience translating business requirements into technical monitoring and observability solutions. - Proficiency with Terraform for configuration and environment management. - Experience supporting cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure. - Solid background in observability, monitoring, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts. - Experience managing and improving enterprise monitoring platforms at scale. Preferred Qualifications - Experience driving monitoring tool consolidation or modernization initiatives. - Familiarity with executive-level reporting and operational KPIs. - Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems. - Experience integrating observability into CI/CD pipelines. - Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders. What Success Looks Like - Leadership has clear, trusted dashboards that reflect system health and business impact. - Monitoring and observability are standardized, scalable, and embedded across the environment. - Reduced dependency on multiple legacy monitoring tools. - Improved reliability, faster incident resolution, and stronger operational confidence. • Lead the technical evolution of the control plane — not just keep it running, but decide where it goes next. • Design and ship platform primitives (Terraform modules, pipeline templates, account/networking patterns) that feature teams adopt because they're better than the alternative — not because they're mandated. • Partner with embedded infra engineers to identify recurring friction across verticals and turn it into self-serve capability. • Own the boring-but-critical work: AWS Organization hygiene, CI/CD reliability, vendor contracts and integration health, incident response on shared infrastructure. • Mentor across the discipline. We hold infra standups twice a week — that's where you'll teach, learn, and stay aligned with the embedded engineers. • Reduce the SDLC step-function count. Every new approval gate, every "ask infra first" workflow is a tax — your job is to lower it.
