Role Description The controller will oversee all reporting operations handled by the Accounting & Reporting team, including GL, Cash Reconciliation, A/R, A/P, Payroll, Revenue Recognition, and all activities required to close the books each month. You will also own and direct month-end and year-end close processes. The buck stops with you with timely and accurate close of the books and monthly / quarterly / annual reporting to both leadership and Alpine Software Group, our HoldCo. Typical Functions: - Ensure quality control and accuracy over financial transactions and financial reporting. - Own maintenance and quality management of the COA and GL reporting system. - Support the preparation of the budget and monthly financial forecasts, as needed. - Oversee and finalize the preparation of flux reports and associated analyses. - Research any technical accounting issues, as needed, for compliance. - Lead the annual audit process for Actabl. - Oversee and lead compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, as needed. Ensure compliance is consistent and fully met. - Own foreign entity registrations and associated annual reporting and compliance. - Develop, and oversee the development of, business and accounting process documentation to maintain and strengthen internal controls and policies. - Oversee the AP process within guidelines and DPO. - Oversee and, when needed, process payroll. Coordinate with the HR team to ensure compliance of hiring within approved geographies. - Support the VP Finance on cash management and treasury, including owning the set up and management of merchant accounts, cash reporting, etc. - Manage the Accounting & Reporting team. Responsible for hiring onto this team as applicable, onboarding and training of new hires, development of current team, overall team leadership. - Additional accounting, reporting, and associated compliance duties, as required. - Explore and apply AI tools in your day-to-day work, finding new ways to simplify tasks, accelerate outcomes, and elevate your effectiveness. Qualifications - An active CPA license is required for this position. - B.S. in Accounting, Finance or similar (advanced degree in accounting a plus). - Proven working experience as a company or group Controller; at least 2 years of experience in the Controller position. - At least 10 years of accounting experience with demonstrated experience and success in building, managing, developing, and leading a team. - Public accounting and/or internal audit experience strongly desired. Must have proven experience successfully managing the annual audit process with external auditors. - Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Experience with ASC 606 is required; experience in recurring revenue businesses is highly desired. - Deep experience with creating financial statements and completing timely and accurate monthly and annual reporting. - Experience with using modern AI tools to increase your productivity, including summarizing information, drafting and refining content, analyzing data patterns, and supporting decision-making in your day-to-day work. - Deep experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process. Experience with multiple accounting systems a plus. - Excellent accounting software user and administration skills. Significant experience with Excel and Google tools is mandatory. - Passion for numbers with strong analytical skills -- at home among dashboards. - You use AI responsibly, with a basic understanding of security, privacy, and ethical data-handling considerations, and you know how to keep sensitive information safe when using AI tools.
