Role Description We are seeking an AI Developer / Prompt Engineer to contribute to major projects. The AI Developer will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI-enabled solutions in enterprise and cloud environments. This role combines strong software engineering discipline with deep hands-on experience in machine learning, generative AI, and modern AI development platforms. The role will be remote. - Architect, develop, and deploy production-grade AI and generative AI solutions aligned with business outcomes - Lead implementation of NLP, LLM-based applications, predictive models, and intelligent agents - Build and integrate AI services using AWS Bedrock and AWS SageMaker - Apply AI-assisted development practices using GitHub Copilot and Claude Code - Design APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations - Establish best practices for model lifecycle management, monitoring, security, and cost optimization - Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentoring - Ensure AI solutions meet security, privacy, and responsible AI standards Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - 6+ years software development experience, including 3+ years delivering AI solutions - Expert proficiency in Python and strong backend development experience - Hands-on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn - Proven experience with AWS SageMaker and AWS Bedrock - Familiarity with GitHub Copilot and Claude Code - Strong cloud-native and microservices architecture experience Requirements - Experience with LLM-based and agentic systems - Knowledge of MLOps and AI governance - Experience with vector databases and RAG architectures - Consulting or client-facing delivery experience Compensation (Ontario) The salary range provided reflects a good faith estimate based on factors such as experience, technical expertise, location, and relevant certifications. Final compensation will be determined according to the specific circumstances of each candidate. Estimated salary range: $100,000 to $140,000 per year. Role Description The Electricity Infrastructure and Buildings Division of PNNL is accelerating the transition to a decarbonized, efficient, resilient, and secure energy system through basic and applied research. We leverage a strong technical foundation in power and energy systems and advanced data analytics to drive innovation, transform markets, and shape energy policy. The Optimization and Control Group and the Energy Systems and Resilience Group are looking for a Summer Intern to contribute to innovative research on foundational models and cybersecurity. The intern will play a key role in leveraging foundational models to streamline user interactions and provide targeted insights for an existing multi-criteria decision-making platform used in large-scale infrastructure planning. Additionally, the position will also focus on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to develop a set of supplementary tools to enhance the Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model (C2M2). The intern will work with PNNL staff to: - Simplify user interactions and answer complex infrastructure planning queries for multi-criteria decision making in large-scale infrastructure planning. - Enable users of the C2M2 to advance the maturity of their cybersecurity program. The work will require an understanding of AI training, testing, and validation. Furthermore, the intern may be required to work with PNNL staff in the deployment of the tool.
